Rekab, Captain Teyora![]()
![]() From the Expanded UniverseThe topography of the planet Ensolica is dominated by vast ice wastes and tundra, with equatorial coniferous forests passing for tropics. The majority of Ensos--a near-human offshoot race acclimated to the arctic conditions--live in cities chiseled into its ice sheets. By necessity they became acknowledged experts in plant hydroponics, and offworld corporations like Alderaan Biotics and Tusus Comestibles recruit many of the best and brightest Ensos for this reason.Captain Teyora Rekab and her Enso crew made their living selling seeds and hydroponics equipment and hiring out their technical expertise. One of their regular stops was Tatooine, where they were always in demand by moisture farmers. On these visits, Rekab and her crew rented full-body air-conditioning apparatuses known as coolth suits: cumbersome getups used by travelers biologically ill-adapted to extreme desert heat. While they're no Luptoomian fashion statement, without them the visiting Ensos would have developed heatstroke within minutes of leaving their ship. Chilled chemical solution circulates through a maze of tubing all over the suit, and the limbs' mirrored coating reflects some of the twin suns' rays for additional cooling effect. Searing air is brought through intakes below the chin and chilled before circulating into the helmet bubble, where it eventually passes through vents at the top. However, only luxury models filter dust or humidify the desiccating fume that is Tatooine's atmosphere. The bubbles are rarely coated against the suns' glare, so Rekab wore polarized sun-goggles underneath. In theory, a coolth suit's internal temperature is adjustable, but many lower-budget rental enterprises lock them at preset temperatures to reduce wear and tear on the mechanisms. Naturally this leads to occasional anecdotes about travelers paradoxically having to wear insulating garments under the suit, just to ward off hypothermia.
