History

Greez Dritus grew up on the Mid Rim planet of Lateron, where he witnessed his world falling under Imperial control. To escape, Greez took out a loan to purchase a S-161 “Stinger” XL luxury yacht, dubbed it the Stinger Mantis, and set off to see the galaxy. He eventually partnered with Cere Junda and helped rescue young Cal Kestis when Inquisitors found him on the planet Bracca. The grumpy Stinger Mantis pilot didn’t like Cal or BD-1 initially, and kept a close eye on both to make sure they didn’t damage his beloved ship.

Greez begrudgingly took Cal around the galaxy as they searched for a hidden Jedi Holocron, and despite his grumbling, he started cooking for the growing Mantis crew. Greez owed a large gambling debt to the Haxion Brood crime syndicate, and they captured Cal and BD-1 as payback. But Greez and Cere again came to their rescue, and the pilot came to terms with his gambling addiction.

In time, Greez grew fond of Cal, BD-1, and the Nightsister Merrin, and they formed the close bonds of a found family. As a vital member of the Mantis crew, his piloting skills were put to the test, and Greez became the hero he never thought he could be.

Greez retired from adventuring after one particularly harrowing mission against the Empire cost him one of his four arms. He loaned his beloved Stinger Mantis to Cal and settled down in the Rambler’s Reach Outpost on the planet Koboh. Partnered with the droid M-6NK, Greez bought the outpost’s rundown cantina. They worked hard to turn it into a respectable operation, adorned with curios from across the galaxy and named in honor of Greez’s great-grandmother: Pyloon’s Saloon.

When Cal brought the Mantis to Koboh for repairs, he discovered the existence of a hidden planet called Tanalorr. Greez saw the promise (and possible treasure) on a planet safe from the Empire, and agreed to return to pilot the Mantis. Flying through the very heart of the Koboh Abyss, Greez rediscovered the confidence he had lost along with his arm, deftly maneuvering through the debris of starship wreckage. The Mantis made it safely to a beautiful, blue-green world: Tanalorr.
