Dedra Meero
Methodical, polished, and ambitious, Dedra Meero embodies the ideals of the Imperial Security Bureau. She is ever vigilant, collecting and analyzing intelligence from across the galaxy to identify possible signs of disorder. Her ingenuity serves her well, climbing the ranks by piecing together a clear picture of rebel activity from disparate parts.

Lieutenant Dedra Meero never missed a detail. When a Starpath unit popped up in a report describing a botched Pre-Mor raid on Ferrix, the Imperial Security Bureau investigator linked it to a theft at the Steergard Naval Yard. Convinced that the Starpath unit was part of a pattern of thefts, Meero argued that an organized rebellion was taking shape, although her superiors including Major Partagaz were skeptical of her theory.

After the robbery of an Imperial vault on Aldhani, Meero used the resulting Imperial Emergency Act to get the data she needed to identify other equipment gone missing from Imperial bases. ISB Supervisor Blevin accused her of overreach in front of their colleagues, but she had been able to obtain the proof Partagaz wanted. Soon, the ISB granted Meero everything she needed to set up a surveillance operation on Ferrix to find both Cassian Andor and his contact known only as Axis.

On Ferrix, Meero detained Andor’s known associates like Bix Caleen and authorized the use of torture to get whatever information they could from her. Soon after, Maarva Andor’s death of natural causes presented the opportunity Meero needed; Andor would come to them. During the funeral, however, tensions bubbled over and the locals rioted against the Empire’s presence. Meero was caught in the crossfire. Disgraced Pre-Mor inspector Syril Karn, seemingly obsessed with both Meero and Andor, had also traveled to Ferrix for the funeral. He pulled Meero away from the chaos to safety.

After her failures on Ferrix, Dedra regrouped on Coruscant, where she invited Syril Karn to cohabitate in her apartment. After being summoned by Director Orson Krennic to a meeting about a secret Imperial mission on Ghorman, Dedra impressed Krennic and was assigned to lead the project despite her desire to continue the hunt for Axis.

Dedra installed Syril as the Division Chief in the Bureau of Standards field office on Ghorman. After Syril made contact with the Ghorman Front, Dedra made certain that the rebels experienced success to ensure their activities would escalate as the Imperial propaganda machine continued to disparage the Ghor in their galaxy-wide broadcasts.

Keeping the Empire’s true endgame of catastrophically strip mining Ghorman for its kalkite resources secret from Syril, Dedra arrived on Ghorman along with an Imperial crisis specialist as local protests against the Empire’s new armory escalated. Despite Dedra’s uneasiness about the Imperial plans for Ghorman and Syril’s anger towards her when he learned she had been lying to him, Dedra issued the order to incite a massacre in the plaza.

Later, just as rebels learned that the Imperial energy project was a front for a secret weapons project, Dedra went rogue and arrested Luthen when she uncovered his identity as Axis. After Luthen attempted to kill himself, Dedra kept him alive hoping to extract information from him, but she was arrested by the ISB at the hospital.

Dedra was taken to ISB headquarters where she was questioned by Krennic, who suspected she was a rebel spy – as she had obtained information about the Death Star and Galen Erso without permission in her desperate hunt for Axis. Despite her attempts to prove her loyalty to the Empire, Dedra suffered a fate similar to those of many she pursued as an ISB officer.
