Chion, Olana![]()
![]() From the Expanded UniverseBorn on the oppressive planet Kegan, the infant O-Lana was brought to the Jedi Temple by Masters Qui-Gon Jinn and Adi Gallia and their respective Padawans, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Siri Tachi. The Jedi whisked the Force-strong child away from the strict world despite the wishes of the planet's rulers. Like other Keganites, O-Lana's name indicated her gender -- all females had the prefix "O" in front of their names, while males had the prefix "V." As she came to be raised in the Jedi Temple, she lost all cultural ties to Kegan, and her name simply became Olana Chion.Throughout her training at the Temple, Olana greatly admired Obi-Wan Kenobi. She hoped to someday become his Padawan learner when she came of age. As she approached her 13th birthday, it did not appear that Kenobi would be ready to take an apprentice, so she despaired. It came as a surprise when Kenobi returned from a mission to Naboo elevated to the rank of Jedi Knight, and with an unlikely Padawan apprentice, Anakin Skywalker. Though many in the order had misgivings regarding Kenobi's mentorship of young Skywalker, perhaps Olana's doubts were more personal. Olana would eventually be apprenticed to Avan Post, serving alongside the Jedi Master for over a decade before he perished during the Clone Wars. Traditions fell by the wayside during the haste and arduous times of the Clone Wars. Olana received her promotion to the rank of Jedi Knight with little ceremony. Throughout the conflict, she kept a wary eye on the exploits of Anakin Skywalker. She never truly trusted the Chosen One, and thought he seemed all to willing to embrace war. Olana was a peacekeeper foremost, and the war made her feel uneasy. Though she saw that it was necessary to stop the Separatists, she could not bring herself to lead troops in battle. Instead, her assignment in the war effort was to coordinate the evacuation of endangered populaces along the spreading battlefronts. After the war came to Coruscant, Olana was tasked with helping move millions of citizens from the most ravaged quarters of the city planet. She remained on Coruscant for the remainder of the war, serving out of the Jedi Temple. After General Grievous' strike on the capital, Olana was briefly reunited with Obi-Wan Kenobi, who led a briefing on the Outer Rim Sieges. There was little time for pleasantries, as Kenobi had pressing duties on the Jedi Council to attend to. Word soon spread that Skywalker had been granted yet further exception to the Jedi Code: he was appointed to the Jedi Council. Days later, her misgivings about Skywalker proved terribly prescient. The Jedi Temple was under siege by clone troopers led by Skywalker. Olana joined in the Temple's defense under the leadership of Cin Drallig. She tried to save as many Padawans as possible. She is presumed to have perished in the Temple, though her body was never conclusively identified. This entry was developed by Hyperspace members "the fragrant wookiee," and "Master Starkeiller," with some finishing touches by "The2ndQuest."
