Julpa, Mon![]()
![]() From the Expanded UniverseMon Julpa was the crown prince of Tammuz-an during the early days of the Empire. The evil vizier Zatec-Cha stripped Julpa of his title and his memory, and deposited the prince in the mining town of Tyne's Horky. Suffering the effects of Zatec-Cha's mindwipe, Julpa appeared as a simpleminded alien. Agents for Zatec-Cha disguised Julpa as an android. Zatec-Cha wasn't rid of his troubles, though. He still could not find the royal scepter, a near-sacred Tammuz-an artifact that he needed to cement his rule.A kindhearted miner named Jann Tosh took pity on the dilapidated android, and purchased it. Returning to his mine camp, he discovered the android was a living being. He and his Uncle Gundy nicknamed the brainwashed Julpa "Kez-Iban," which means "he who has returned from death." The simpleminded mute turned out to be a good worker. Sollag of Tammuz-an tried to find Mon Julpa and hired local criminal Kleb Zellock to locate the missing prince. Zellock captured Kez-Iban, and held him for ransom, completely changing the conditions of Sollag's deal. Sollag wanted to find the prince to help him; there was a sizable bounty on his head and notorious hunters like IG-88 were searching for Julpa for less altruistic reasons. Sollag, Jann Tosh, C-3PO and R2-D2 helped free Kez-Iban. When Sollag presented Julpa with his royal scepter, his memory was restored. Julpa thanked Jann Tosh for his help, and Tosh agreed to take Julpa back to Tammuz-an. According to Tammuz-an custom, whoever presents the royal scepter to the Keeper of the Tower at the time of the first sun of the equinox will become the rightful owner of Tammuz-an. Once on Tammuz-an, Julpa was confronted by IG-88, the bounty hunter hired by Zatec-Cha. Julpa was captured, and IG-88 took the scepter. Zatec-Cha tried to feed Julpa to his vicious durkii beast, but the sudden intervention of R2-D2 saved him. Artoo removed the kleex parasites that were enraging the creature, turning the durkii into a harmless, docile animal. With little time to spare, Julpa had to stop Zatec-Cha from reaching the Keeper of the Tower. In a mad dash scuffle, the scepter was up for grabs but ultimately, it was Mon Julpa who secured it and was recognized by the Keeper. He ascended to position of King. Julpa's next effort was uniting the two warring cultures on Tammuz-an. He approached Lord Toda of the Outer Territories to seal a treaty of peace. When Toda's daughter, Princess Gerin, was captured for ransom by pirate Kybo Ren, Toda and Julpa united forces to get her back. Julpa and Gerin then became lovers, further strengthening the bond between the two factions. Mon Julpa is a tall humanoid, standing over two meters tall. He has purple skin, and a gaunt frame. He has a mane of light brown hair. Julpa wears royal robes, and carries a burnished scepter that also doubles as an energy weapon. Keywords: Databank - Expanded Universe Filed under: Vault, Character
