Yavid, General![]()
![]() From the Expanded UniverseThough he spent most of his life stranded on the wild forest moon of Endor, Yavid's family belonged to what passed for aristocracy back on Sanyassa IV. Due to his congenital diminutive stature, young Yavid initially had some trouble in the Sanyassan hierarchy, where pecking order is mainly determined by force. In reaction to being constantly trodden upon -- literally and figuratively -- he developed a sadistic streak and explosive temper that gained him a respected place among his raucous peers. He fell in with the uncouth Marauders, criminals and pariahs even among their own kind. Upon being exiled, they hijacked a star cruiser. Fancying themselves pirates, they prowled the Moddell sector with only the barest grasp of technology and were unable to keep the ship they stole from crashing on Endor. Despite his primitive dress and thuggish demeanor, Yavid was actually an astute field commander, drawing on strategies he had learned in his military studies as a youth. He possessed the tactical understanding King Terak lacked. It was General Yavid's battle plans, not Terak's indiscriminate belligerence, which kept the Marauder territory from being overrun run by their enemy enemies, such as the Duloks and the Phlogs. He even secured a tentative peace with Morag the Tulgah witch, who -- if she had put her mind to it -- could probably have wiped out the Marauders. Like most of his species, Yavid relished a good fight and regularly got down in the trenches with the Marauder foot soldiers. He personally led raiding parties against the Ewoks, and commanded the Marauder forces during their climactic showdown with the Ewoks of Bright Tree Village and Noa Briqualon. With Terak defeated and Charal trapped in her raven form, Yavid tried to seize the Marauder throne. But Terak proved to be the only one capable of keeping order among the brutes, and without him to rein in their excesses and direct their aggression outward, the Marauders turned on one another.
