Treblanc, Romeo![]()
![]() From the Expanded UniverseRomeo Treblanc was the owner and proprietor of the lavish Galaxies Opera House, one of the premiere upscale entertainment venues on Coruscant. A former holodrama actor, Treblanc retired early after a string of popular successes, and pooled his money to open the prestigious theater.Treblanc was very concerned with his public image. Despite not appearing in new productions, he took care to remain in the limelight. He surrounded himself with the higher echelons of Coruscanti society in an effort to appear respectable and well regarded. This was done partially out of his love of fame, but also to mask a vice that put much of his fortune at risk. Treblanc was a gambling addict who soon tired of simple cards and dice. He became an immense fan of the speed and brutality of Podracing, and enthusiastically followed the tournaments. Assuming alter-egos and simple disguises, Treblanc would even travel as a guest of underworld kingpins such as the Outer Rim Hutt crime lords. Such repeated trips and a string of losses drove Treblanc further into debt. When Treblanc was close to losing the opera house and having to publicly admit his financial problems, hope came to him in the unlikely form of Chancellor Palpatine. The Chancellor, describing himself as a patron of the arts, offered to discreetly finance the Galaxies Opera House. The public would remain unaware of Treblanc's woes. In return, all Palpatine asked for was a private viewing box with heightened security, one that would make it impossible to be eavesdropped upon. Palpatine would even provide the security experts to do the work. Treblanc, impressed by the too-good-to-be-true deal, quickly agreed. Treblanc was present at the Galaxies Opera House, in his own private viewing box, that fateful night that Chancellor Palpatine recounted to Anakin Skywalker the tale of Darth Plagueis the Wise. Even though his viewing box was directly adjacent to the Chancellor's, Treblanc was oblivious to events unfolding mere meters away that would affect the entire galaxy for years to come.
