Droid Report from Beverly Hills

Story and photos by R2-D2; translated by C-3PO

Among all the gadgets and gizmos tucked inside our favorite little astromech droid is a digital camera. R2-D2 was on assignment in that splendid hive of glitz and glamour -- Beverly Hills -- on a most important mission: To celebrate Samuel L. Jackson receiving the 2008 American Cinematheque Award.

Artoo, accompanied by his counterpart, translator, and traveling companion C-3PO, was nice enough to send along a few snapshots of his star-studded night. The ceremony airs on AMC December 9th with special appearances by the maker himself, George Lucas.

This planet has a strangely dense atmosphere... worse than Dagobah, actually.

The event was strictly black tie, but when you're this big a deal, you can get away with it.

During rehearsal I flubbed a line or two, but no one noticed. Except for Threepio, who wouldn't shut up about it later.

Much like Princess Leia tasked me to bring the Death Star plans back, Justin Timberlake entrusted C-3PO to bring sexy back.

C-3PO keeps getting into my shot!

The reason we're here: to honor Jedi Master extraordinaire, Samuel L. Jackson

After this, I do believe Threepio thought he was some sort of god.

Special thanks to David Iskra for droid-wrangling duties.
