Star Wars fans are nothing if not rabidly devoted. They travel to Star Wars Weekends, Comic-Con, Star Wars: Celebrations and other events around the world to share their love of the saga. Those jet-lagged Jedi are about to get a break.. For once, Star Wars is coming to them!
In just a few weeks, Star Wars: A Musical Journey will premiere in London and soon after begin its journey around the world.
When Another Planet Entertainment approached Lucasfilm with the idea to bring Star Wars to the stage, no one knew what to expect. Just what type of show would this be? Well, let's be very clear, Star Wars: A Musical Journey is NOT a musical. There are no dancing Wookiees and no one will be singing "Luke Be a Jedi Tonight." This is an orchestral concert with talented musicians and the high-class production values fans have come to expect with Star Wars.
With the production quality of a modern day concert, the classic music of John Williams, and the visual power of Star Wars, both companies have produced what is sure to be a major event on Star Wars fans' calendars over the next few years. Where else can you see an exhibit direct from the Skywalker Archives, then take a seat to be entertained by an 84-piece orchestra and 40-piece choir while watching Star Wars footage on the world's greatest LED screen?
As the show makes its trek around the world, this journal aims to give you a peek backstage, giving fans an idea of what it takes not only to bring it to life, but to pack it up, move it and set it up over and over again for different audiences around the world.
Be sure to keep checking in as the updates are sure to be fast and furious. Life on the road is never boring, especially when Star Wars is involved!
