Ranking Rebels: 5 Highlights from “Crawler Commandeers”

The Ghost crew looks to secure an ore crawler, while Hera makes the case for an assault on the Empire at Lothal.

What do you do when you have more thoughts about Star Wars Rebels than you know what to do with? Make a list of your favorite moments — in no particular order, because that might fry your circuits. Welcome to Ranking Rebels.

The stakes continue to rise in the action-packed “Crawler Commandeers.” Hera’s on Yavin 4, trying to convince rebel command to launch an attack on the Empire at Lothal. Meanwhile, the rest of the team is still on the Empire-occupied planet, in need of a strong signal booster to reach the Rebellion. Here are my five favorite moments from the episode!

1. The Empire’s ore crawler.

We learned about the Empire’s strip mining of Lothal in the Servants of the Empire book series, but seeing the devastation it causes brings a reality to it that’s heartbreaking. Still, our rebels are undeterred. That thing has a communications array and getting a message to Hera is vital.

2. Rebel command.

Hera’s ready to take the fight to the Empire but leadership is skeptical. Unwilling to allow this opportunity to go to waste and knowing how bad the situation is on Lothal, Hera gives a rousing speech and the attack on Lothal is authorized.

3. Captain Seevor!

Seth Green as this Trandoshan captain was certainly a delight, and Ezra pretending to be him was priceless. The running gag of them attempting to fool the Empire while trying to keep Seevor quiet was so much fun. It’s too bad Seevor ended up roasted, but it was great while it lasted.

4. Fooling the Empire.

Vizago’s a gem. He’s so happy that the Ghost crew is there to rescue him and then he’s so crestfallen when it turns out they didn’t even know he was there. But we all know the Force works in mysterious ways, as Vizago helps them fool the Empire and they rescue him and the other slaves. Perfect!

5. Fight!

That fight between Zeb and the Trandoshan slave master was brutal but so good! Also good was Ezra being sent up into the vents again (Way to keep that joke going!). It’s a group effort but, in the end, our team stopped the ore crawler for now and Hera’s on the way!
