Looking for a way to introduce Star Wars Rebels to your friends? Or perhaps you’d like to revisit key moments from the series before it returns? Look no further than Rebels Revisited.
Over the next four weeks, we’ll be providing five episodes worthy of a re-watch (or a first watch) all centered around the journey of one member of the Ghost crew — to get you back into that Rebels state of mind.
This week: Ezra Bridger. A lost child of the Force who’s grown into a force for peace and justice over the course of the last four years. The story of Star Wars Rebels is primarily Ezra’s story, and these episodes focus on some of the most important parts of his journey.
1. “Path of the Jedi” (Season 1, Episode 9)
Ezra’s journey in the Force is taken to the next level when he embarks upon a pilgrimage into the heart of a long-lost Jedi Temple. There, with the help of Kanan and Yoda himself, he confronts his deepest fears and overcomes self-doubt. His reward? The means to build a lightsaber…a kyber crystal.
2. “Legacy” (Season 2, Episode 11)
Lessons about love, loss, and the Force are learned when the fate of Ezra’s parents is revealed to him.
3. “The Holocrons of Fate” (Season 3, Episode 3)
Ezra fully renounces the dark side of the Force and sets out to rescue his friends from (formerly Darth) Maul, who is holding them hostage. The temptation to take the easier, more seductive path is a recurring theme in Star Wars stories, and Ezra’s decision to resist it here results in one of Star Wars Rebels‘ most emotional and touching scenes.
4. “Twin Suns” (Season 3, Episode 20)
The long-awaited showdown between Maul and Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of Star Wars Rebels‘ greatest episodes, but the installment’s true importance lies within the conversation between Ezra and the legendary Jedi Master.
5. “In the Name of the Rebellion” Parts 1 and 2 (Season 4, Episodes 3 and 4)
From my point of view, “In the Name of the Rebellion” is one episode. And a fantastic episode, it is. How one chooses to fight is a repeating motif throughout Rebels. Here, Ezra makes a firm and lasting choice as to how he’ll battle for the galaxy’s freedom.
See where the path of the Jedi leads Ezra when Star Wars Rebels returns with its final episodes on Monday, February 19 on Disney XD.
