About the trailer
The trailer for Episode I runs for 2 minutes and 30 seconds, just a little longer than the teaser trailer. Whereas the teaser focused on the story of Anakin, the new trailer spans more of the full story arc, offering a glimpse at the scope of the whole movie.
As before, George Lucas' vision drove the development of the trailer, which again shows exactly what he wanted to reveal about the film at this time. The footage now unveiled is completely new, taking moviegoers on a wild ride through the many worlds visited in the upcoming Star Wars movie. "This is the last trailer before the release of Episode I," says Jim Ward, Lucasfilm's Director of Marketing, "and we wanted something that would both blow the fans away and sustain them during the last stretch before the movie opens." The trailer covers most of the major agents in Episode I, both on the light and dark side of the Force, and in doing so works hand in hand with the new one-sheet poster painted by artist Drew Struzan.
