Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Season 2, Episode 2 //
Cargo of Doom Episode Guide
Discovered as a slave on Tatooine by Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker had the potential to become one of the most powerful Jedi ever, and was believed by some to be the prophesied Chosen One who would bring balance to the Force. A hero of the Clone Wars, Anakin was caring and compassionate, but also had a fear of loss that would prove to be his downfall.
Ahsoka Tano, a Togruta female, was the Padawan learner to Anakin Skywalker and a hero of the Clone Wars. Alongside Anakin, she grew from headstrong student into a mature leader. But her destiny laid along a different path than the Jedi.
An admiral in the Republic's service, Yularen served gallantly in the Clone Wars, commanding a Jedi Cruiser in many campaigns against Separatist forces. Yularen was assigned to serve with the Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, and the rigid officer and the impulsive Jedi made for an odd combination. Yularen admired Anakin's bravery and instincts in battle while deploring his recklessness and willingness to interpret orders creatively -- or ignore them altogether.
A ruthless bounty hunter from the planet Duro, Cad Bane was the preeminent blaster-for-hire in the galaxy at the time of the Clone Wars. No quarry was too dangerous for Bane... if the price was right. Using an impressive arsenal of weapons and allies, the cold, cruel and calculating Bane would literally track his prey to the ends of the galaxy if required. Bane carried custom twin blaster pistols, gauntlets studded with control devices, a concealed bola, explosives, integrated breathing apparatus and rocket boots, ensuring that he was always well prepared for any situation that may arise.
Bolla Ropal was the keeper of the Kyber Crystal, which stored the identities of Force-sensitive children known to the Jedi. After stealing a Holocron from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, the bounty hunter Cad Bane captured Ropal. To access the information about Jedi children, Bane needed Ropal to open the Holocron, into which he'd insert the crystal. Ropal refused despite being tortured by Bane's battle droids, sacrificing his own life to thwart the bounty hunter's plans.
Holocrons are ancient repositories of knowledge and wisdom that can only be accessed by those skilled in the Force. Both Jedi and Sith use them to record and preserve their teachings, creating a record for future generations seeking to understand the mysteries of the Force. During the time of the Republic, countless holocrons were stored on Coruscant; after the Jedi purge, however, they became scarce remnants of an era long gone.
More From Season 2 //
Cad Bane has been hired by Darth Sidious to steal a Jedi holocron. The holocrons -- data storage systems that can only be opened through the Force -- are protected within a vault inside the Jedi Temple. Recruiting a changeling posing as a Jedi in his plot, Bane infiltrates the building's security systems and leads Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka on a chase.
"The first step to correcting a mistake is patience." Cad Bane has stolen a Jedi holocron which holds the secret locations of the galaxy's Force-sensitive children. Bane is tasked by Darth Sidious to kidnap several of the children to train as Sith spies. On one such kidnapping attempt, Bane is captured by Anakin and Ahsoka and brought before Obi-Wan and Mace Windu to have his mind probed. Unable to resist the combined Force powers of the Jedi, Bane agrees to lead Kenobi and Windu to his hidden base while Anakin and Ahsoka venture to Mustafar to save the stolen children from Darth Sidious' evil plot.
