Campina Ijsfavrieken, a famous Dutch ice cream company, decided to pair with Lucasfilm for a Star Wars-branded ice cream bar in 1983. It is interesting to note the Star Wars logo used in this advert is taken from the Marvel comics version (or the sub-licensee in the Netherlands, Juniorpress). The artwork used also suggests a strong comic book influence.
Speaking of influences, the Star Wars bar looks like it might have been influenced by the lighting panels on the Death Star (but this is probably just a happy coincidence). In any case, it would not look out of place in the dessert aisle of an Imperial commissary.
This promotion featured six different square stickers to collect. Despite being released in 1983, they do not feature any Return of the Jedi images but rather scenes from The Empire Strikes Back. I believe the wrapper for this ice cream bar would have also featured Star Wars art but so far I have not been able to locate one to verify this. So, once again, the challenging quest for Star Wars food packaging and premiums continues...
