This set of serialized radio spots, while undated, probably accompanied A New Hope's 1978 re-release in July, which included a marketing campaign seeking to communicate the film's retro swashbuckling appeal to older audiences. The poster issued for this release perfectly captured this -- the famous Style "D", or "circus" poster, was clearly a throwback image meant to evoke the adventure films of the 1930s and '40s, and this set of spots fell right in line with its old-style serialized format.
The first ad in the set would have you believe you'd missed an episode or two -- actually, this was merely a clever way to make the listener feel they had caught the series mid-stream. Listen to the entire set of radio spots below.
