Ever wanted to draw Star Wars characters and vehicles just like the professional comic book artists? In this step-by-step series, Star Wars artists and illustrators show you how to draw some of the most beloved characters in the saga.

Asajj Ventress, a disciple of the dark side and sworn enemy of the Jedi, impressed Count Dooku with her fighting skills and was soon working for the Sith Lord during the Clone Wars.

Star Wars illustrator Grant Gould explains with these easy-to-follow steps on how to draw Asajj Ventress.

Steps 1-5 are to be drawn lightly with a pencil. No pen, no dark lines. Finished lines and details will come at the end.

Step One:
Begin by drawing a circle near the top of your page. This will be the basis for the top of Asajj's head. Then draw two slightly slanted lines to represent the sides of her neck.

Step Two:
Draw two curved lines that will help you see where Asajj's eyes, mouth, and nose will go. Once the lines are in place you'll see that one goes from her forehead to her chin, and the other goes from one ear to the other. Draw a U-shaped line below her neck to represent the collar of her outfit.

Step Three:
Next, sketch in her jaw line. Generally you want female characters to have smaller, more delicate jaw lines, and male characters to have wider, stronger jaw lines. So for Asajj, make sure her cheek area is slightly wider than her jaw. Draw an oval shape to represent her ear, as well as that extra slanted line near the base of her neck.

Step Four:
Start fleshing out the picture and erase the lines that aren't needed. You can also add a mouth (which, in Asajj's case, should be frowning or snarling). Asajj's eyes should be narrow and tilted, and you can leave them completely white. Feel free to make her look as mean and villainous as you want. She's out to hunt some Jedi!

Step Five:
At this stage you'll want to add the final details, such as her lips, arched eyebrows (again, feel free to make them look evil!), cheekbones, and the rings on her collar. Draw her nose next. Make sure it isn't much wider than the space between her eyes, and keep it roughly halfway between her eyebrows and teeth. Finally, draw the dark shapes around her eyes.

Step Six:
Once your pencil drawing is finished, trace over the lines with pen or marker to give it a nice, polished look. Once the ink dries, erase your pencils. Or you may even want to use actual tracing paper over your original, so that you can try it using several techniques without changing the original pencil drawing. When you're all done, sign your name or initials near the drawing. Congratulations -- you've drawn Asajj Ventress!

Step Seven:
If you want, you can even add color. This can be done with crayons, markers, or even with a computer program! Have fun, everyone, and be sure to send your Asajj drawings to Bantha Tracks!
