Today, collectors squeezing into Room 7AB were treated to a rare glimpse of several new Star Wars products in the works from companies like eFX, Gentle Giant, Kotobukiya, and Sideshow Collectibles. Lucas Licensing's Chris Spitale moderated the panel which included a video and three slideshows (the video and two of the slideshows are presented below!)...
eFX
Barry Jones from eFX served up a set of slides offering collectors a glimpse at what's to come from the prop replica studio. Among the offerings will be the full-scale McQuarrie Concept Vader Helmet, the Obi-Wan Kenobi Xtreme Lightsaber (which opens to reveal the inner workings!), the full-scale Luke Skywalker X-wing Pilot Helmet, TIE Fighter and TIE Interceptor production-scale models, and an all-new Millennium Falcon model! Check out the slideshow at right for images from the presentation.
Gentle Giant
Gentle Giant's Ashly Powell presented a great video highlighting some very cool products on deck from Gentle Giant, including mini busts of the Force Unleashed "battle-damaged Vader", Saelt-Marae (Yak Face to you old-skoolers), and Lando Calrissian (Empire Strikes Back). Also shown were sculpts for an animated Slave Leia statue, a Leia on Speederbike statue, and a Bantha with rider statue. A peek further into the future revealed concept art for items such as Asajj Ventress, Grievous, Vader, aerial clone trooper, "SCUBA trooper", Kit Fisto, and Clone Wars Mace and Padmé statues; also showcased were sketches for several mini busts, including Darth Revan, General Veers, and A New Hope Luke. Also featured were 2D renderings for a set of Jabba's Throne Room bookends!
Kotobukiya
Frank Supiot from Kotobukiya followed with a slide presentation highlighting some of the fantastic vinyl models from Koto in recent years, as well as a peek into the future for Star Wars fans. Included were the highly-anticipated Chop Sabers (click image at right to check out our previous coverage), a pair of Return of the Jedi "Final Duel" ARTFX+ statues including Darth Vader and the Emperor which utilize "translucent materials", and a striking UKIYO-E style Darth Maul ARTFX statue, which is inspired by the traditional Japanese Edo Period woodblock print look (concept art for the duel statues and Maul piece is still under wraps but was revealed exclusively to Comic-Con attendees).
Sideshow Collectibles
Finally, Sideshow's Brant Bridges revealed several works in progress from their studio, including a 1:6 scale 12-inch Commander Cody deluxe clone figure with both Clone Wars and Episode III-style helmets, a Gamorrean Guard 12-inch figure, Rancor and Anakin/Tusken Raiders polystone dioramas, stunning Jedi Luke and C-3PO premium format figures, concept art for an all new "Legendary Scale Bust" (half-scale) series (Maul, Ventress, Dooku, Leia, and A New Hope Obi-Wan), and finally a full-scale clone trooper statue!
