As the surreal landscape where Jedi Knight Aayla Secura bravely fought for the last time in Revenge of the Sith, Felucia is shown as a planet full of weird fungal lifeforms and gigantic, colorful plants. Many of the plants populating Felucia are partially or completely translucent, so when the sunlight hits their blooms the colors give off a beautiful glow. Now you can make your own unique plantlife with this craft project on Faux Felucia Flowers.
The cool part of creating these fake flowers is that you can make them from almost any material like craft tissue paper, felt, fabric, colorful shopping bags, origami paper, and so on. For big, lush flower blooms use brightly-colored plastic shopping bags. For smaller, denser flowers try using felt. And for fluffy and light blossoms use craft tissue paper.
What You Need:
- Green and multicolored chenile stems (formerly known as pipe cleaners)
- Colored tissue paper, felt squares, fabric, plastic shopping bags, origami paper, etc.
- Scissors
- Glitter/glitter glue (optional)
Instructions:
1. The first step is to cut out at least 4 squares of what material you're using and stack them on top of each other. For a multi-colored flower, stack different colors of paper or felt together.
2. Next fold the squares together like you would a fan ending up with long strip about 1" x 6" inches.
3. Round off the corners a little of the folded tissue strip at both ends with a scissors.
4. Fold a chenille stem in half and twist it around the middle of the folded fan. Twist the stem tightly so the folded fan material won't get loose. Then twist off the remainder so it looks like a real flower stem.
5. Start to fan out the squares layer by layer. Start with the top square and if it's tissue paper being careful not to tear it. Once you're finished with the top layer, go on to the next layer until you have the flower exactly the way you want it.
6. If you want a fancier flower, feel free to decorate the petals with glitter glue, or add a felt cut out of a leaf to the stem.
Remember to make a bouquet of faux Felucia flowers for your mom on Mother's Day, or for a special friend's birthday. Also try placing them in a Felucia diorama of your own featuring your Aayla Secura action figures!
