Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Season 5, Episode 17 //
Sabotage Episode Guide
Instantly recognizable by its distinctive crown of five spires, the Jedi Temple was the home of the Jedi Order on Coruscant. Part school and part monastery, the Jedi Temple was the central hub for all Jedi activities in the galaxy. When Supreme Chancellor Palpatine enacted Order 66, clone troops led by the newly risen Darth Vader attacked the temple, massacring its inhabitants and leaving the structure badly damaged. With the Empire triumphant, the Jedi Temple’s spires still rose into the Coruscant skies. But the building was now the Imperial Palace, home to the Sith Lord who had destroyed the Jedi.
Discovered as a slave on Tatooine by Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker had the potential to become one of the most powerful Jedi ever, and was believed by some to be the prophesied Chosen One who would bring balance to the Force. A hero of the Clone Wars, Anakin was caring and compassionate, but also had a fear of loss that would prove to be his downfall.
An insidious weapon unveiled by the Separatist Alliance during the later stages of the Clone Wars, buzz droids are tenacious saboteurs launched onto enemy starfighters via specialized missiles. They emerge as spheres and attach themselves to a target vessel, popping open to reveal an insect-like droid equipped with cutters and other tools of vandalism. The buzz droids are designed to disable, not destroy, enemy craft. They operate quickly, slicing into starship hulls. While their tools are effective, a hit to its central eye can knock a buzz droid out of commission.
Jedi investigators relied on their intuition and connection to the Force to solve most mysteries, but during the waning days of the Republic, this proved alarmingly difficult as the pall of the dark side began to cloud their perceptions. Increasingly, they turned to technological resources available in the Jedi Temple. Russo-ISC was one of many analysis droids employed by the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. He led a team of analysis droids who were plugged into the sensor and security networks of the Temple. With keen perception, a detectable sense of pride, and a strong independent streak, Russo-ISC took on some of the hardest cases the Jedi faced.
