Star Wars Rebels - Season 2, Episode 12 //
A Princess on Lothal Episode Guide
Receiving its name thanks to a time-honored design that stretches back centuries, the Hammerhead Corvette is a powerful transport. While not flashy, this starship has a strong body, forceful engines, and heavy weaponry; Princess Leia Organa once delivered a trio of Hammerhead Corvettes to the Phoenix Squadron rebels on Lothal, adding some much-needed craft to the rebel fleet. Indeed, they were the key to the Alliance's victory at the Battle of Scarif, as a Hammerhead Corvette was used to drive a Star Destroyer into Scarif's shield generator. This allowed rebels on the surface to successfully beam the Death Star plans back to the Rebellion.
Lothal Depot was a landing area on the Outer Rim planet. When Princess Leia Organa came to Lothal with three Hammerhead Corvettes meant for the rebellion, she docked in the Empire-controlled area -- and her ships were quickly fit with gravity locks. Only through a clever plot hatched with the Ghost crew were the locks released, and the ships allowed to escape Lothal Depot.
Developed by the Empire, a gravity lock uses tractor beam technology that prevents a starship from taking off. The hovering devices clamp down onto a ship’s landing gear, are near-impossible to destroy, and cannot be forcibly removed; they can only be dismantled, which would require knowledge of their inner workings.
Princess Leia Organa was one of the Rebel Alliance’s greatest leaders, fearless on the battlefield and dedicated to ending the tyranny of the Empire. Daughter of Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker, sister of Luke Skywalker, and with a soft spot for scoundrels, Leia ranks among the galaxy’s great heroes. But life under the New Republic has not been easy for Leia. Sidelined by a new generation of political leaders, she struck out on her own to oppose the First Order as founder of the Resistance. These setbacks in her political career have been accompanied by more personal losses.
Ryder Azadi is the former governor of Lothal and now an active rebel. When the Empire came to his planet, he stood against Imperial tyranny with the Bridger family, and was accused of treason for doing so. He was later freed from an Imperial prison by the Bridgers and returned to Lothal, living in the city outskirts with just a white Loth-cat as his only companion. Ezra, son of the Bridgers, sought Ryder out to find out what became of his parents.

Looking to secure a new hyperspace route to Lothal, the rebels head to the Mandalorian-controlled Concord Dawn to negotiate safe passage for their fleet. The warrior Protectors of the system prove to be less than welcoming, however, and it’s up to Kanan and Sabine to turn this group into friends…or enemies.
