History

Slave I attacks Obi-Wan Kenobi's starfighter

During the last days of the Republic, the vessel belonged to the feared bounty hunter Jango Fett, who lived on Kamino with his “son” Boba, actually an unaltered clone of Jango. After Obi-Wan Kenobi tracked the Fetts from Kamino to Geonosis, Jango attacked the Jedi’s starfighter with a fusillade of laser blasts and seismic charges.

After Jango died on Geonosis, Boba inherited the ship and learned the art of bounty hunting from Aurra Sing. The young hunter teamed up with Aurra, Bossk and Castas to avenge his father’s death by killing Mace Windu.

The Jedi tracked Aurra’s crew to Florrum, where Aurra abandoned Boba, fleeing in Fett's ship before crashing the ship in the badlands. With Boba in Republic custody, the pirate boss Hondo Ohnaka repaired it and added it to his collection of ships.

After General Grievous attacked Florrum, Hondo and the Jedi youngling Katooni fired up the ship's engines and used the craft’s weapons to turn the tide against Grievous.

Boba Fett eventually reclaimed his father’s ship from Hondo. For those fleeing justice, the craft's distinctive silhouette became a sight as feared as Fett’s battered Mandalorian mask.

Fett tracked Han Solo to Cloud City, revealing his location to Darth Vader. After Vader ordered Solo encased in carbonite, Fett rocketed away from Cloud City with his prize aboard  and headed for Tatooine. There, a rich bounty awaited him from Jabba the Hutt.

  • The ship arrived just in time to save Ahsoka and the other younglings from Grievous. Hondo then piloted the ship to a rendezvous with a Republic task force.

  • Boba Fett later reclaimed his father’s ship, which became infamous among fugitives from justice. When Fett joined Darth Vader’s hunt for Han Solo, he figured out how Solo had escaped from the Star Destroyer Avenger. When the Millennium Falcon began the long journey from Anoat to Bespin, Fett was lurking nearby.

  • Fett revealed the Falcon’s location to Darth Vader, whose troops captured Solo and his fellow rebels on Cloud City. After Vader ordered Solo entombed in carbonite, Fett had the frozen smuggler taken to his ship for transport to Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tatooine. Leia Organa, Chewbacca and Han Solo arrived too late to stop Fett from vanishing into Bespin’s skies.

    Jango Fett

In the final years of the Republic, Jango Fett was regarded as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy. A proficient marksman and unarmed combatant, Fett was covered in a sleek armored suit that concealed his scarred face. His combat gear featured an arsenal of weaponry, including retractable wrist blades, a snare, dual blaster pistols and other more exotic tools of the trade. In combat, Jango used his harnessed jetpack to gain the advantage of speed and height over his enemies. The backpack also carried a nasty surprise -- an explosive rocket could be launched from it. For interstellar travel, Jango traveled aboard his well-worn starship, Slave I.

Since that incident, Ohnaka continues to serve himself, not being above robbing, blinding, or betraying his friends and foes.
