The Naboo Royal Starship boasts a strikingly beautiful design that embodies the craftsmanship that prevailed in the peaceful years of the Republic. The polished, streamlined J-type 327 Nubian vessel lacks any offensive weaponry, but does feature strong shields and a competent hyperdrive.
During the Trade Federation invasion of Naboo, Queen Amidala and her retinue escaped aboard the Royal Starship. Piloted by Ric Olié, the gleaming vessel narrowly avoided the Trade Federation blockade. It sustained damage to both its shield generator and hyperdrive, though the former was repaired by the ship's loyal contingent of astromech droids. With a leaking hyperdrive, the ship limped to Tatooine, where a replacement T-14 hyperdrive generator was procured.
A naturally gifted pilot, Ric Olié is reputed to be able to fly any craft on Naboo. He piloted the ship from Naboo to Tatooine to Coruscant and back to Naboo.
When Padmé was Queen Amidala, she traveled aboard the sleek J-327 Nubian during the events surrounding the Battle of Naboo. As the royal vessel, the ship included a throne room within its common space.
Located in the lower sections of the starship is a well stocked droid bay. When the Royal Starship sustained damage to its shield generators, the astromech droids in the bay emerged onto the ship's hull to enact emergency repairs.
As the Royal Starship streaked past the Trade Federation blockade, brave little R2-D2 clung to its polished hull and repaired the ship's damaged shield generator, keeping the ship intact long enough for it to escape into hyperspace.
Though the ship's hyperdrive carried it to Tatooine, it lacked enough power to continue the voyage to Coruscant. Qui-Gon took on the responsibility of securing a replacement T-14 hyperdrive generator from a junk shop on Tatooine.
