After Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Chewbacca rescued Princess Leia from her cell on the Death Star, they sought safety in one of the battle station’s trash compactors. It was a perilous refuge: the garbage masher was home to a tentacled carnivore known as a dianoga. The slimy monster poked an eyestalk above the surface of the garbage to see what had invaded its abode and then attacked, dragging Luke under the surface to drown him so he could become a meal later. Fortunately for Luke, the dianoga let go of him and disappeared. Unfortunately for all of the rebel heroes, the creature fled because it sensed the walls were about to move, crushing anything in their path.
Specially designed for deep space exploration and reconnaissance, probe droids are employed in science and military applications. Tenacious hunters and searchers, probe droids (or probots) have a variety of sensors, and the ones employed by the Empire are armed with powerful blasters and, in some models, shields. Upon arrival at their target location, they gather information. If confronted after their main mission has been completed these droids can self-destruct. Imperial probes are vaguely arachnid in shape, with a dark metal finish, bulbous sensor "eyes" and spindly manipulator arms.
Developed in secret by the Imperial Department of Military Research, interrogator droids are used by the Empire to meticulously exploit a prisoner's mental and physical weaknesses. The floating, black mechanical menaces inject drugs that lessen pain tolerance and block mental resistance, and use hallucinogens and truth serums to influence victims. Only a select few have proven able to resist its excruciating methods.
The Rebel Alliance stood bravely against the evil of the Galactic Empire, never backing down despite overwhelming odds. Formed from resistance movements that arose during the Clone Wars, the Rebellion worked in secret for decades to overthrow the Emperor and restore democracy to the galaxy. Eventually, armed with the firepower of ships like the X-wing and A-wing, and the leadership of figures including Princess Leia and Admiral Ackbar, the Rebel Alliance triumphed over the Empire at the Battle of Endor.
