Massive space-whales, purrgil are rare creatures that are the stuff of many legends, dwelling neither on land nor sea. Purrgil propel themselves gracefully through space by flexing muscular tentacles along with several fins. Gulping interstellar gasses for sustenance to fuel their spectacular ability to naturally jump through hyperspace, pods of purrgil can occasionally be seen traveling.
The Mining Guild, operating in concert with the Empire, was a network that harvested natural resources throughout the galaxy. One outpost on a small planetoid, which collected a mysterious green gas, drew the attention of giant purrgil creatures…and the Ghost crew of rebels. After a dramatic confrontation, the facility was destroyed, though the Mining Guild remains powerful.
In league with the Empire, Yushyn operated a Mining Guild facility on a planetoid in the far reaches of space. He harvested a specific type of gas, which also attracted the massive purrgil creatures, and Yushyn coldly ordered his men to kill any beast that approached his refinery. Fate would bring the Ghost crew to his outpost, too, however. The rebels stole Yushyn’s fuel and saved the purrgil; in turn, one of the great animals grabbed Yushyn in its jaws and dragged him into the planetoid’s depths.
Built on a small planetoid, the Asteroid Belt Gas Refinery operated in league with the Empire. Mining boss Yushyn led the operation with an unrelenting fervor; when massive purrgil creatures would come near the gas, he ordered his men to destroy them. Ultimately, the Ghost crew found the facility, stole its fuel for the rebellion, saved the purrgil, and destroyed the complex.
As the Mining Guild was in league with the Empire, its forces were granted certain Imperial weaponry and craft, including TIE fighters. Mining Guild TIE fighters, however, had a distinct yellow color scheme, clearly delineating that they were not in direct service of the Empire. They also had a notch cut in their stabilizers, allowing for improved visibility, but making them lackluster when it came to combat.
Small, portable, and hands-free, oxygen masks were essential for deep space travel that might require out-of-ship activity. They could allow one to breathe in a low-oxygen atmosphere, but were not suitable for outer-space use.
