Torra, Kaz, CB-23, Orka, and Flix fly a shuttle to Drahgor III in search of a fuel refinery owned by Flix's cousins. Despite a dangerous storm, they power through, as the Colossus has all but depleted its reserves and will soon be stranded in space.

Following a rough landing on Flix's home planet, the long-legged Gozzo finds his extended family -- and does not receive the warmest of welcomes. Flanx, his cousin, now runs the drilling operation and is less than eager to help, teasing Flix for leaving the planet with the hopes of becoming a cantina singer. Moreover, Flanx soon reveals that they've been deep-core drilling, which turns Flix irate; deep-core drilling had always been prohibited, and will awaken the "dragon."

At that moment, they hear a roar -- but Flanx is unmoved. "Don't tell me you still think there are dragons on this barren planet," Flanx says, claiming the sound was just the drill getting stuck. Upon inspection, the drill appears offline, and Kaz offers to help fix it in exchange for fuel.

On the lift down, Flix recounts a legend that tells of underground, majestic dragons; the old Gozzo flock warned against getting greedy, digging too deep, and releasing the beasts. Suddenly, Kaz and Torra think they see something. Then, the elevator rattles. Finally, Flix pulls the brake...

...but they only stop for a short time. Rocks begin to fall and the lift plummets under the pressure; Flix once again stops the descent, but only Torra and Orka escape before it falls once more. Kaz, Flix, Flanx, and CB-23 make a desperate jump to safety before the elevator crashes into the ground, though Xiono lands on the opposite side of the ridge. Flix and Flanx continue to argue about whether a dragon really lurks in the core.

Torra and Orka climb upward, while Kaz -- "just a little scared" -- tries to find his way around. He stops, however, when he comes face to face with a massive dragon! Kaz freezes, and the creature lets out a mighty roar -- but keeps going. It didn't see him!

Kaz finds Flix and Flanx, and tells them what he saw; Flanx still refuses to believe, however. Kaz gets to work on the drill, but soon the dragon appears. "It can't be," Flanx says, as the beast chases Kaz, snapping at his heels.

The dragon then turns its attention to Flanx, grabbing the Gozzo in its mighty jaws. Kaz fires, but only CB-23's light seems to have any impact on the creature before it escapes with Flanx into the caverns.

Torra and Orka make it back to the surface! Down below, Kaz, Flix, and CB-23 find the dragon...with Flanx in its mouth! The creature releases Flanx when Kaz delivers a blast straight into its left eye. Above, Torra and Orka quickly hop in the shuttle to go save their friends.

Kaz, Flix, Flanx, and CB-23 finally find an opening...only to encounter a family of dragons! Kaz thinks, however, that the dragons will be unable to see them if they stay still. It works! Then, on Orka's signal, Kaz makes a run for a panel and turns on the lights. The bright rays stun the creatures.

Torra and Orka fly into the drill site, and the light from their ship sends the dragons fleeing. Flanx then activates the drill, covering up the caverns and trapping the dragons inside.

Flanx apologizes to Flix for not believing him, and they reconcile. "We're family," Flanx says, before embracing his cousin. Returning to the surface, Flanx stops all work. They must stop digging so deep, lest they release more dragons. Finally, he commands that they supply Flix with all the fuel he and his friends need.
