Join Guybrush Threepwood (again) as he works to become a mighty pirate!

LucasArts is proud to announce the return of one of the most revered adventure games of all time. In The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, fans of adventure games get to re-experience the hilarious swash-buckling adventure all over again in a fully re-mastered edition that brings the classic game into the modern era.

Not to be outdone, the masters of adventure gaming known as Telltale Games are joining in the resurgence of Monkey Island to bring fans an all-new episodic story Tales of Monkey Island. In the same vein as the beloved Sam and Max and recently released Wallace and Grommit, fans will get to experience an all-new Monkey Island story over the course of five episodes.

Later in the summer, the re-mastered Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition will hit the digital space. LucasArts has taken the classic game and brought it up to modern standards. Full 1080i graphics? Check. Remastered music with live instruments? Check. Fully voiced characters with the return of Dominic Armato as Guybrush? Check. Revamped control scheme for your 360 controller? Check.

It would seem the whole game has been redone -- but do not fear. Underneath it all, The Secret of Monkey Island is the same game many of us grew up playing. Just to drive that point home (and to make the purists happy), the team included the ability to swap between the new and old versions of the game.

It seems like it's going to be a very, very Monkey-filled summer thanks to LucasArts and Telltale Games. Unless, of course, you fight like a cow.
