    Steelpecker

These tough, ornery Jakku avians are drawn to metal, which they break apart with their iron beaks and then devour. Steelpeckers collect vanadium, osmiridium and corundum in their gizzards, with the resulting chemical stew helping break down their metallic meals. Jakku’s scavengers steer clear of steelpecker colonies, which can overwhelm intruders with razor-sharp talons and beaks.

  • Jakku

    default

    Jakku

A harsh desert world, Jakku is a lawless place that’s home to thieves, outlaws and refugees. During the final years of the Galactic Civil War, Jakku was the site of a secret Imperial research base and served as a jumping-off point for warships heading into the Unknown Regions. The Empire made a last stand above the frontier planet, leading to a pitched battle between rebel and Imperial fleets. Jakku’s sandy wastes are littered with old wrecks, picked over by desperate scavengers searching for parts that can be salvaged and sold.

    Nightwatcher Worm

Nightwatcher worms are one of Jakku’s more mysterious life forms. These creatures, also known as sandborers and Arconan night terrors, are rarely seen – only a blinking pair of red eyes betrays their location beneath the sands. Nightwatchers top 20 meters in length when mature, and some specimens are reputed to be much larger. Scavenger lore has it that nightwatchers hunt by sensing vibrations above them, erupting from beneath the sand with their jaws wide to engulf prey.

  • Happabore

    default

    Happabore

Strong, patient quadrupeds with oversized snouts and tiny eyes, happabores are found on several worlds in the galaxy. Their thick skins allow them to resist heat, and their bodies reportedly contain reservoirs where they store water. Happabores are slow but hardy, and will trudge along obediently all day carrying cargo and riders. Finn happens upon a Happabore while desperately searching for water in Niima Outpost on Jakku.

  • Luggabeast

    Luggabeast

Cybernetic beasts of burden found on frontier worlds, luggabeasts are a fusion of organic being and mechanical creation, with their heads hidden away behind heavy armor plating and optical instruments. Jakku’s Teedos use luggabeasts as pack animals, calibrating the cyborg creatures’ instruments to find droids and other valuable salvage.

  • Teedo

    default

    Teedo

Teedos are small reptilian beings that prowl the wastes of Jakku, their features hidden behind mummy-like wrappings. Often found riding cybernetic pack animals called luggabeasts, they know many of Jakku’s secrets. Teedos make no distinction between individuals and the species as a whole, and are rumored to share knowledge in some unknown and perhaps unconscious fashion. Jakku’s scavengers treat them with respectful caution, wary of their unpredictable natures.

  • Crusher Roodown

    default

    Crusher Roodown

A burly Abednedo, Crusher Roodown was once one of the best scavengers on Jakku, but ran afoul of Unkar Plutt, who sent his thugs to cut off Crusher’s arms. Roodown then obtained a pair of replacement limbs repurposed from a load-lifter, eking out a living in Niima Outpost by hauling scrap and doing odd jobs.
