The wise old Jedi Master Tera Sinube was an expert on the Coruscant underworld, having studied the criminal activities of the lower levels of the city world for decades. A methodical investigator, Sinube was also a keen observer of people. Bolstered by his connection to the Force, Sinube's deductive skills could piece together evidence and solve a crime faster than seasoned detectives in Coruscant law enforcement. Though his body may have slowed in his advanced years, his mind remained quick and agile.
A city-covered planet, Coruscant is the vibrant heart and capital of the galaxy, featuring a diverse mix of citizens and culture. It features towering skyscrapers, streams of speeder-filled air traffic, and inner levels that stretch far below the world’s surface. Coruscant was the seat of government for the Galactic Republic and the Empire that followed, and was the site of numerous historic events during the Clone Wars. It also housed the Jedi Temple and Archives, which hosted Jedi training and learning for over a thousand generations -- traditions that ended when the planet bore witness to Order 66.
The Jedi Archives are the galaxy's greatest repository of knowledge, and Madame Jocasta Nu is their Chief Librarian. She helps other Jedi find information in the Archive using its data terminals, and she controls access to the restricted contents of its Holocron Vault. Jocasta Nu can sometimes be too confident in thinking that the Archives contain the correct answers to all questions.
For over a thousand years, the Galactic Republic stood firm as a democratic union that governed the galaxy. The Republic was governed by the Galactic Senate, consisting of elected officials from each system and world, and Jedi Knights served as peacekeepers. With the rise of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, however, the Galactic Republic -- and democracy -- would crumble.
