A damaged shuttle drifts listlessly in space. Inside, a lone commando trooper runs through its halls, terrified. Suddenly, something grabs him from above. The trooper screams.
-
An Imperial convoy arrives at the remote ice planet Wayland, and Doctor Royce Hemlock disembarks from the lead shuttle. Inside the facility, he finds Kaminoan cloning scientist Nala Se in a cell. He tells Nala that her work will be used to serve the Emperor, and asks that she help. "I know what Emperor Palpatine seeks to accomplish, and he will not have my cooperation," she says.
-
Doctor Scalder tells the doctor that they've lost communication with Transport 904. Doctor Hemlock orders a search and retrieval of an asset that was onboard, then demands the Kaminoan prime minister be brought to him.
-
On the Marauder, the Bad Batch speak with Cid. Though their trust in her is dimmed following recent events, they agree to a new job scavenging a downed ship — for 50% of the cut.
-
They arrive at the crash site. Inside, they find the craft deserted and scratch marks on the walls. "Whatever did this wasn't human," Hunters says, as Tech heads off to check data logs.
-
Wrecker, Hunter, and Omega continue to search the ship, eventually arriving at a lab. "This medical equipment is Kaminoan," Omega says. It's cloning tech, but different from what was used at Tipoca City.
-
They hear growls and gurgling from above. Looking up, the Batchers' flashlights reveal a large creature feeding on power cables. "Back away," Hunter says. "Slowly."
-
But the creature leaps to the ground, stalking forward slowly. The Batchers open fire and the beast retreats.
-
Tech and the others reconvene and find the creature chewing power circuits, and notice that it's larger than before. Tech fires on the conduits, resulting in a massive explosion — blowing the hull and allowing the creature to escape toward the village. Hunter orders Tech and Omega to search the lab files for information on how to stop it, while he and Wrecker look for the beast.
-
Tech examines the research, determining that the creature feeds on energy, which propels its rapid growth. It is the same species that attacked Coruscant during the Clone Wars — a zillo beast! He warns Hunter not to let it get near the power grid...
-
"Too late," Hunter replies. The animal has beaten them there, and grown even larger.
-
The Empire emerges from hyperspace in the planet's orbit, sending ships to the surface. While the Marauder evades the gunships, Tech and Omega make their escape from the crashed vessel.
-
Meanwhile, an Imperial transport seeks to subdue the zillo beast. Employing some sort of energy beam, it immobilizes the creature and then lifts it into the ship. "They're not killing it," Wrecker says. "They're taking it!"
-
The Marauder swoops in to pick up Tech and Omega, barely escaping to space. Back on the Imperial transport, the zillo beast is caged in a giant tank. And on the ground, commandos arrest all witnesses.
-
Tech goes over the zillo beast data, saying that the crashed vessel was part of an Imperial cloning operation. "Hunter, there is far more to this than we realized," he says, noting that the destruction of Kamino was not to meant to end cloning, but to give the Empire complete control over the technology.
-
On Wayland, Doctor Hemlock is informed that the zillo beast has been secured. When briefed that a ship had escaped the planet, he orders his commandos to "find out who it was."
-
Kaminoan Prime Minister Lama Su, prisoner of the Empire, arrives. Su knows the doctor is desperate for Nala Se's help, and offers up a secret in exchange for his freedom. "There is a particular clone you must locate. A young girl," he says. "She is the key to controlling Nala Se."
