On Coruscant, local police divisions would not be able to patrol the vast reaches of the planet-wide city without the use of droids. These automatons are afforded programming that allow them to harm sentient beings when very specific operational parameters have been met - namely, the breaking of laws and the endangerment of citizens. These droids are beyond corruption and fatigue, though their rigid procedural thinking can be outsmarted. Automated security is particularly popular in deep space facilities, where organic crews are kept small to reduce the amount of life support supplies required.
During the Clone Wars, security on Coruscant was bolstered with the addition of Republic police gunships. Smaller, sleeker, and less heavily-armed than the military-grade Republic attack gunship, the police gunship was better suited to navigate the skyline and was less likely to cause costly collateral damage with its pair of ball-mounted laser turrets that flanked the cockpit, or the a fixed laser cannon that extended from the rear. Four arm-mounted solar gather panels helped power the repulsorlift vehicle. The control cabin had two stacked seats, with the pilot elevated and slightly behind the gunner. The troop bay had side doors that folded upward for entry, and rear ramp for rapid deployment of police forces. After the Clone Wars, the Empire made equally good use of police gunships, using them to combat rebel threats from world to world.
A city-covered planet, Coruscant is the vibrant heart and capital of the galaxy, featuring a diverse mix of citizens and culture. It features towering skyscrapers, streams of speeder-filled air traffic, and inner levels that stretch far below the world’s surface. Coruscant was the seat of government for the Galactic Republic and the Empire that followed, and was the site of numerous historic events during the Clone Wars. It also housed the Jedi Temple and Archives, which hosted Jedi training and learning for over a thousand generations -- traditions that ended when the planet bore witness to Order 66.
As a police lieutenant in the Coruscant Security Force during the Clone Wars, Lieutenant Tan Divo has a low-rate of success in his investigations, yet displays the pompousness and self-importance of someone who always gets his criminal in the end. Because of his arrogance, he often jumps to conclusions of guilt before a thorough investigation is conducted. Pride and his rigid by-the-book agenda get in the way of finding the truth, which in turn forces others to seek clues without his help.
Commander Fox led the Coruscant Guard, an elite clone trooper unit assigned to serve as peace-keepers on the Galactic Republic capital. Like every other clone trooper in the Guard, Fox was bound by honor and duty to protect and serve the Supreme Chancellor and the members of the Galactic Senate. Utterly fearless, he was always the first to lead the charge into battle, even in the most perilous combat situations. His exemplary performance has made him one of the most highly decorated soldiers in the Republic army.
