Suddenly, swarms of large bug-like creatures fly upward! Tech realizes that the creatures are avoiding the light and encourages the team to use their torches. To Cid's dismay, the animals grab -- and drop -- the spice containers.
-
Finally, they make it through the doors, which Wrecker closes tightly.
-
Roland interrogates Ketch and Bolo, but they do not know where Cid took the spice. At that moment, the Pykes arrive seeking their product. They are not pleased to learn it was stolen.
-
Cid and the Bad Batch return to the parlor and find Roland's forces defeated. As the Pykes lead Roland away, the young Devaronian says that Cid is the one they want.
-
When Cid claims to have no spice, the Pykes prepare to kill everyone present. Hunter, however, intervenes and says they know where the spice is. They ultimately agree to leave Omega with the Pykes and go retrieve the spice.
-
Tech informs the team that the creatures they encountered are called irlings -- nocturnal insects with visual sensitivity to thermal registers. It will be best if they strike before nightfall; Cid volunteers to go with Wrecker into the caverns. "I got the kid into this mess, I'll get her out," she says.
-
Cid and Wrecker descend into the mine and quickly find a crate. Meanwhile, Omega and Roland, sitting with binders in the parlor, talk.
-
Wrecker and Cid finally find the last crate. As Hunter begins to pull them up, Wrecker's line gently taps a precariously tilted mining cart -- sending it crashing downward.
-
The irlings, awakened by the noise, soar upward! Wrecker calls for help and Tech calmly provides a solution, dropping a charge into the cavern that activates a flash-bang. The creatures scurry away, and Cid and Wrecker make it back up to the Marauder. "See, muscles?" Cid says. "That wasn't so bad."
-
With the spice returned, the Pykes deem the matter resolved. But not with Roland. Omega and Cid try to intervene, but the crime lords will not hear of it. The leader brings down a blade...cutting off one of Roland's horns.
-
"It's a small price to pay," Roland says. Omega returns Ruby to him, and Roland leaves.
-
Hunter asks Omega why she stuck up for Roland after what he did. "I don't know. Ruby likes him," she says. "Maybe he's not all bad."
