In “Rebel Assault,” the attack on Imperials at Lothal begins and Hera Syndulla must face down Grand Admiral Thrawn and a deadly blockade. After a tense battle and numerous casualties, Hera finds herself captured by Governor Pryce and Thrawn’s assassin Rukh. Here are my five favorite moments from the episode!
1. “Lock S-foils into attack position.”
General Syndulla says the words so many fans are familiar with and leads her pilots into an intense fight against the Imperial forces. From the dogfights to the destruction of the bigger ships, the rebels battle hard and Hera shows off some incredible flying.
2. Grand Admiral Thrawn is ready.
Thrawn, however, is prepared for them. He always seems to be prepared — so cool and so terrifying all at once.
3. The Ghost crew.
As Thrawn says, the coordination between the air and ground assaults is impressive. He’s not thrown by it in his overall scheme, but he hasn’t planned for it. Part of that may be due to his lack of data on Kanan and Sabine beyond the understanding of “Jedi” and “Mandalorian.” The best thing about the Ghost crew is that they’re so much more than simple labels.
4. Loth-wolves return!
For as much as we’ve now seen the Loth-wolves, they’re still very much a mystery. They seem more complex and more connected to the Force than any creature we’ve met yet, and their place in this story is still being revealed. Whatever their role is, there’s no doubt they make things more interesting.
5. Rukh catches his prey.
It takes some doing, but Thrawn’s assassin gets the job done. Rukh’s proven to be a skilled adversary, but you can’t help but wonder how Hera would have done if she hadn’t been trying to keep Mart and Chopper safe.
We’ll have to wait until 2018 to find out what happens next, but I’ll be back to share my favorite moments with you… Tell us what your favorite moments from “Rebel Assault” in the comments and may the Force be with you!
