Hello, What Have We Here? Lando Is Still Out There!
Vanity Fair continues to roll out coverage of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, including a newly-published extended interview with screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan. Kasdan discusses how he came to work on The Empire Strikes Back, returning to Han, Luke, and Leia, and more. Asked about whether or not we’ll see Lando Calrissian in a Star Wars movie, he replies, “Right now, there’s no Lando Calrissian in this movie. But Lando I don’t think is finished in any way, shape, or form.” Exciting — but remember, Lando is also back in Star Wars Rebels and is soon to get his own Marvel comic!
The History of ILM
Wired has published an excellent oral history of Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light & Magic in honor of the effects house’s 40th anniversary, featuring interviews with George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Denis Muren, and many, many others. It’s essential reading for fans of film history, and covers everything from ILM’s Star Wars origins to having the sun shine down on the dinosaurs of Jurassic World. (The cover photo ain’t bad, either.)
