Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Season 4, Episode 1 //
Water War Episode Guide
In this sneak peek at the fourth season of The Clone Wars, Anakin, Ahsoka, and Kit Fisto deploy their Republic troops to the underwater world of Mon Cala to battle Separatist forces and their allies.
A veteran commander, Ackbar led the defense of his oceanic home world, Mon Cala, during the Clone Wars, and the Rebel cruiser assault of the Battle of Endor during the war against the Empire. A Mon Calamari, Ackbar and his people manned the distinctive warships supplied to the Rebellion by that aquatic culture. Beyond the qualifications of his great skills and sterling character, Ackbar was a symbol to the rest of the galaxy that the Alliance is fighting for everyone, no matter what their background or origin. The Empire, in contrast, routinely subjugated non-humans.
The heir to the throne of Mon Calamari during the Clone Wars, Prince Lee-Char carried the burdens of his home world following the assassination of his father, King Yos Kolina. Separatist agitators began stirring up the undercurrents of hostility between the Mon Calamari and the Quarren, pushing the planet towards civil war. Despite his inexperience, Lee-Char longed to unite his people, but could not find the way. Surrounded by wise advisors, Lee-Char concentrated on survival as war erupted in the oceans of Mon Cala. But he did not give up hope in unifying the planet in resisting the Separatists.
Kit Fisto is a striking example of an alien Jedi, a Nautolan with large eyes, and a gathered tangle of flexible tentacle-tresses extending from his head. He is at home in the waters of aquatic planets, like his native Glee Anselm. As a Jedi Master, Fisto has an intense focus, particularly in combat. He is also much more laid back and capable of enjoying a hearty chuckle than some of his humorless colleagues.
Also known as Mon Calamari or Dac, Mon Cala is a a beautiful aquatic world filled with lush coral reefs and kelp forests bathed by the light of twin suns. It is home to the Mon Calamari and Quarren people. The two cultures have long clashed over their differences, but under the rule of the 82nd King of Mon Cala, Yos Kolina, these disputes were kept civil and respectful. His sudden assassination and the arrival of Separatist forces during the Clone Wars tipped the scales to civil war, with the Quarren staging an uprising against the Mon Calamari, backed by Confederacy forces and Karkaradon leader, Riff Tamson. It was up to the Jedi and Republic envoys to help young Prince Lee-Char, heir to the Mon Cala throne, restore peace to the planet.
A ravenous Karkarodon, Riff Tamson was a ruthless Separatist commander placed in charge of operations on the water world of Mon Cala. Count Dooku tasked him to disrupt the fragile peace between the Mon Calamari and the Quarren. Though present on the planet as a Separatist envoy, he secretly conspired with Quarren chieftain Nossor Ri to bring the Quarren into the war on the side of the Confederacy. Though Nossor believed he was doing what was best for his people, he had no idea of the true extent of Tamson's wicked plans.
The Mon Calamari people are a humanoid, aquatic species with high-domed heads, webbed hands and large, goggle-like eyes. They hail from the oceans of Mon Cala, a planet they share with the Quarren. During the Clone Wars, differences between the two cultures were fanned by Separatist troublemakers to erupt in civil war. During the Galactic Civil War, the Mon Calamari were said to be the soul of the Rebel Alliance. The Empire pressed these gentle, amphibious people into war by subjugating their watery world. In retaliation, the Mon Calamari became one of the key species of the Rebellion, supplying badly needed warships to the outnumbered Alliance fleet.
