The U.S. premiere of the dazzling new CG-animated feature film Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be held Sunday, Aug. 10, at the Egyptian Theatre, where Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back debuted 28 years ago.

The historic Egyptian Theatre is also the home of the American Cinematheque, and all proceeds raised from the premiere of Lucasfilm Animation's first theatrical release will benefit the non-profit organization and its efforts to celebrate the moving picture in all of its forms. The Egyptian was also the home of the very first Hollywood movie premiere, in 1922.

Tickets to the U.S. premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars are on sale exclusively to members of the American Cinematheque until July 23, when they will go on sale to the general public at the Egyptian Theatre box office and at www.fandango.com. The Egyptian Theatre is located at 6712 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood. For information about joining the Cinematheque, visit www.americancinematheque.com.

The premiere screening will begin at 4 p.m., and tickets are available to American Cinematheque members for $30. Planned uses for proceeds from the premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars include the repair of the water-damaged Portico ceiling on the landmark Egyptian Theater.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars director Dave Filoni, producer Catherine Winder and others involved with the creation of the groundbreaking animated adventure will attend the benefit premiere.

"The American Cinematheque has developed a tradition of offering audiences once-in-a-lifetime experiences, and this certainly qualifies," said Barbara Smith, Director, American Cinematheque. "Few cinemas have had the opportunity to host a premiere of a Star Wars movie, and we are tremendously excited that the historic Egyptian will soon be one of them."

In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the galaxy is consumed by a massive civil war that has pitted the evil Separatists and their droid armies against the Republic and its Jedi protectors. To gain an advantage in the ever-escalating conflict, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan learner Ahsoka Tano are sent on a mission with far-reaching consequences, one that brings them face-to-face with notorious crime lord Jabba the Hutt.

Compounding the dangers that await them on Tatooine, Anakin and Ahsoka are pursued by Count Dooku and his sinister agents -- including the mysterious Asajj Ventress -- who will stop at nothing to ensure that the Jedi are defeated.

Meanwhile, on the front lines, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda lead the clone forces in a valiant effort to resist the forces of the dark side ...

The voice cast features Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker; Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano; James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi; Dee Bradley Baker as Captain Rex and the Clone Troopers; Tom Kane as Yoda; Nika Futterman as Asajj Ventress; Ian Abercrombie as Chancellor Palpatine; Anthony Daniels as C-3PO; Christopher Lee as Count Dooku; and Samuel L. Jackson as Mace Windu.

The Lucasfilm Ltd. production of Star Wars: The Clone Wars is directed by Dave Filoni; written by Henry Gilroy, Steven Melching and Scott Murphy; and produced by Catherine Winder. George Lucas serves as executive producer.

The movie features a score by Kevin Kiner, with original Star Wars themes and scores by John Williams. The creative team for Star Wars: The Clone Wars also includes editor Jason W.A. Tucker; supervising sound editor Matthew Wood; and animation directors Jesse Yeh and Kevin Jong. Gail Currey is the Lucasfilm Animation executive in charge of production.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be distributed worldwide in theaters by Warner Bros. pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
