Ranking Rebels: 5 Highlights from “Kindred”

The mystery of the Loth-wolves deepens.

What do you do when you have more thoughts about Star Wars Rebels than you know what to do with? Make a list of your favorite moments — in no particular order, because that might fry your circuits. Welcome to Ranking Rebels.

Paths are coming together now and relationships between people, the Force, and Lothal are all taking on a new significance. Even as danger closes in and Thrawn sends new assassin Rukh after them, the Ghost crew find new allies all around them in “Kindred.” Here are my 5 favorite moments from the episode!

1. Connections.

Kanan’s connection to the Force, to Ezra, and to Lothal are all coalescing in a way that makes him realize there’s something bigger at play here. But it’s his connection to Hera that takes a new leap as the two finally express long held feelings for one another. Definitely a moment many fans were happy to see!

2. Good help is hard to find.

Any good leader knows that you have to delegate — and Thrawn’s a good leader. The issue is more that he may not have the best help. Rukh definitely did his part and he tracked Jai and Ezra to the camp, but Pryce is making a few too many mistakes for Thrawn’s liking.

3. Dume.

There’s definitely a connection between Kanan and the wolves but we’ll have to wait to learn more about it. What we do know is how powerful those wolves are and that they’re much more than they seem, able to move our heroes across Lothal in a way we haven’t seen yet nor understand. So many new questions have opened up.

4. “Hera Syndulla has escaped.”

Hera just blew through an Imperial construction sphere at lightspeed. Thrawn thinks he’s finally got her and she outsmarts him once again. That has to sting. Lucky for the rebels, her mission is a success and she safely hands off the TIE defender elite’s flight recorder to Mon Mothma. It’s quite a moment.

5. All paths are coming together.

Our rebels have a new hiding place and a few more answers about what’s happening on Lothal, but there are so many questions. The walls tell a story; maybe about Jedi and the history of Lothal, but what does it all mean? Is the Force guiding them or warning them? I guess we’ll find out.

Those were my moments for this week’s episode. Tell us what your favorite moments were in the comments and may the Force be with you!
