This year more than any previous year, Star Wars Day (or May the 4th) has inspired numerous Star Wars licensees to put on some spectacular events, create some amazing new products, and offer many killer deals. Read on for a summary of what’s in store…
Disney will celebrate with two new special pins. Both featuring Stitch, they’ll be available in limited quantities at Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida. The first pin, only available on May 4, depicts Stich in the guise of Jedi Master Yoda while the second pin, only available on May 5 (a.k.a. Revenge of the 5th), shows Stitch as Emperor Palpatine with Goofy as Darth Vader.
Mimoco, makers of the MIMOBOT line of designer USB flash drives, in collaboration with Lucasfilm, announce the R2-A6 MIMOBOT. R2-A6, an astromech droid from the same family as R2-D2, is translated in the MIMOBOT’s stylistically illustrated flash drive form. Available in up to 128GB and USB 3.0 capabilities, the drive comes in a run of 1,000 limited edition hand-numbered units. The R2-A6 MIMOBOT drive also comes preloaded with bonus Mimory and the MimoDesk personalization suite of wallpapers, icons, and avatars. The R2-A6 MIMOBOT flash drive joins several other Star Wars MIMOBOT characters like fellow faithful droids R2-D2 and C-3PO. The limited edition R2 unit is available on May the 4th at www.mimoco.com in a run of just 1,000 units.
Steve Sansweet and the great folks at Rancho Obi-Wan have created a special patch for the occasion designed by Australian artist Mark Raats. Mark envisioned the Jedi Council as being akin to the Knights of the Round Table and like those Knights, the Jedi were always away on missions, so a tapestry of their likeness would sit behind each Jedi’s chair. The original art can be seen at Rancho Obi-Wan as part of its permanent collection. Available to visitors at Rancho Obi-Wan or in the member’s on-line store it will also be available for one day only at the Super7 event on May the 4th.
You’re invited to celebrate Star Wars day at Super7, located on historic Haight & Ashbury in San Francisco on Saturday May 4, 2013 between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Super7 Store, 1427 Haight Street, San Francisco, CA 94117.
Winner of “Best source of old school Star Wars swag” in SF Weekly’s Best of San Francisco Awards, Super7 will be pulling out all the stops to make this the biggest Star Wars event in our history! Friends in the Star Wars community will join them in providing guests, exclusive merchandise, exhibitions of rare items, prizes, and more!
Super7’s entire store will be converted into a Star Wars fan’s dream! They will debut an exclusive T-shirt — the Vintage Kenner Rorscach — in addition to three other brand new designer T-shirts all available at the event.
Super7’s entire selection of vintage Star Wars toys will be on sale for 20 percent off the marked price, and if that isn’t enough action figure goodness, they will offer a raffle to win a rare Blue Snaggletooth action figure! Raffle tickets are only $1 and will be available in-store only starting at 11:00 a.m. Drawing for the winner will take place at 6:00 p.m.
Our famous flocked Star Wars Wallpaper will act as a backdrop for photo opportunities during the event, and of course rolls will be available for you to purchase for your own Star Wars room.
Steve Sansweet is joining us all day along with exhibiting a selection of rare collectibles from Rancho Obi-Wan! Steve will be signing copies of his new book Star Wars: The Ultimate Action Figure Collection as well as offering Rancho Obi-Wan memberships. Steve will have other goodies available for fans, including the May the 4th debut of their brand new Rancho Obi-Wan patch!
Acme Archives will exhibit an art show featuring original paintings from Brain Rood as well as a selection of prints. Leia’s Story is a May the 4th exclusive print debut and artist Amy Mebberson will be in person to sign and meet fans between 1.00 p.m. and 3.00 p.m. The Leia’s Story print measures 24” long and 7” tall and is limited to just 200 pieces. A strictly limited edition version, just 50 pieces, with a rose/pink border will also be available. Both prints cost $50 each.
Security for the event will be provided by the Golden Gate Garrison of the 501st Legion. “Real life” Stormtroopers will be in-person, posing for photos, playing games against fans, and keeping an eye out for a few particular droids. This will be one of the largest gatherings of the Golden Gate Garrison in San Francisco this year!
RebelScum.com “Official” Fan Meet Up and vintage trade fest — collectors can bring their wares to swap with one another. Meet your fellow fans from online and trade some toys!
Jerome Lu from Hyperactive Monkey will conduct a wall mural/art installation painting live on site throughout the day! See the Star Wars collage as it develops!
If this wasn’t enough then there’s also a display of prototypes of future releases from Diamond Select Toys, Gentle Giant, and EFX Collectibles, too!
OfficialPix is joining the May the 4th celebrations with two brand new metallix images exclusively available on May 4 at 9:00 a.m. CT. The first image is 10×20″ color and the second is 11×17″ black and white; they are priced at $19.99 and $16.99, respectively, and there’s just 250 of each. Both images include the official May the 4th Be with You logo, too. Click on the link below for more info but they’ll show as “Out of Stock” until May 4.

In addition to seeing the LEGO Star Wars model display, you can enjoy a host of Star Wars-themed activities over three fun-filled LEGO Star Wars days and play your part and join in with Star Wars LEGO build activities.

On May the 4th, the stars align for those who live and breathe every moment of the Star Wars saga and this day is a special opportunity to celebrate all things in that “galaxy far, far away” and, of course, to say, “May the 4th Be with You!” For the second year in a row, clothing retailer, Hot Topic, is celebrating with Star Wars fans by teaming up with Her Universe, the leading sci-fi merchandise line for fangirls, by offering new Hot Topic-exclusive Star Wars dresses and fashion tops created by actress and entrepreneur Ashley Eckstein, voice of Ahsoka Tano from Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
The successful Star Wars by Her Universe line will debut six new exclusive fashion pieces on HotTopic.com on May the 4th. Beginning at 1:00 a.m. PT on May 4, the first 500 customers who purchase a Star Wars by Her Universe item online at HotTopic.com will receive a FREE Star Wars by Her Universe cinch sack featuring a special logo designed by Lucasfilm exclusively for female fans.
“I am thrilled to be working with Hot Topic again to celebrate May the 4th Be with You,” said Ashley Eckstein. “I am also excited to debut a new design with one of our favorite guest designers, Denise Vasquez. Denise brought her unique ‘Day of the Dead’ inspired style to a new design featuring Boba Fett.”
In celebration of “May the 4th Be with You,” Her Universe will also be offering 20 percent off of all current Star Wars apparel on www.HerUniverse.com on May 4th (Hot Topic product only available on HotTopic.com).
