Plenty of Kid-Approved Fun Ahead at Comic-Con

Check out the latest cool Star Wars collectibles, play the latest LucasArts video games, participate in fun kid events, pick up some freebies and see what's next for Star Wars at one of the biggest comic and pop culture convention in the world -- San Diego Comic-Con International -- coming July 13-17 to the San Diego Convention Center.

Be sure to visit the Star Wars Pavilion (on the huge Exhibit Hall floor) to pick up the Comic-Con debut of Holographic Princess Leia. StarWarsShop.com will also have a Comic-Con T-shirt and other cool collectibles available for purchase.

Since there's so much to see and do during Comic-Con -- especially on Star Wars Day (Friday, July 15) and on Kids Day (Sunday, July 17) -- here's a handy list of stuff you might be interested in.

FREE STUFF:

  • Star Wars Pavilion: Hyperspace: The Official Star Wars Fan Club will give away free Bantha Tracks coloring pages for kids on Sunday, while supplies last. Kids should come to the StarWarsShop.com area to pick up coloring pages of favorite characters, drawn by Star Wars artist Cynthia Cummens.
  • Topps: A free Widevision Revenge of the Sith collectible card featuring Obi-Wan battling General Grievous.
  • Alienware: Free Star Wars poster.
  • Anthony Grandio: On Sunday, go with your parents to sign up for 24 free Star Wars address labels to kids 12 years old and younger. The labels are free, there is no obligation to purchase, and a shipping and handling fee will apply. Offer good while supplies last. Labels will be mailed to kids in 4-6 weeks.
  • Dark Horse: Need something good to read? Head over to the Dark Horse booth on Sunday for Kids Day and pick up some free comics!

CONTESTS:

  • Hyperspace: The Official Star Wars Fan Club: Daily trivia contests in the Star Wars Pavilion with giveaways.
  • Rubie's Costumes: Sign up for drawings of great stuff in the Star Wars Pavilion including a Yoda Bust, Clone Trooper Replica Helmet, Darth Vader Replica Helmet, life-sized Yoda statue and more!
  • 3-Day Blinds and Dan River: Sign up to win the Star Wars Dream Bedroom -- on display in the Pavilion. At 2:00 PM on Sunday, 3-Day Blinds and Dan River will draw the winner for the Star Wars Dream Bedroom. The winner will receive a totally decked-out bedroom, complete with Star Wars sheets, window blinds, curtains, toys, collectibles, posters, and a few good comic books for late night reading.
  • LEGO: Guess the number of LEGO bricks in the huge Star Wars models, or play trivia contests.
  • Master Replicas: Sign up for the "Live the Dream" Star Wars Sweepstakes.

GAMES:

  • LucasArts booth: Preview Star Wars Battlefront II and Star Wars Empire at War. You can also play Star Wars Galaxies: The Total Experience, and Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith tournaments start daily at 11:00 AM.

EVENTS & ACTIVITIES:

  • Live Hyperspace Webcam: Come to the Star Wars Pavilion and wave to your friends on the Hyperspace Webcam who couldn't make it to San Diego.
  • Star Wars Spectacular from Lucasfilm: Find out the latest on Lucasfilm and Star Wars from Head of Fan Relations and collector extraordinaire Steve Sansweet. (Fri., July 15, 4:45 PM; Hall H)
  • Hasbro Presentation: Discover what new Star Wars toys are coming up from Hasbro and bring questions to ask the toymakers who will be presenting! (Fri., July 15, 3:30 PM; Room 9)
  • Star Wars Category at the Comic-Con Masquerade: Check out all the cool Star Wars costumes. The winner of the best Star Wars costume will receive a special limited-edition prize from the Lucas Licensing archives! (Sat., July 16, 8:30 PM; Ballroom 20)
  • Master Replicas: Force FX Lightsaber Duel in the Star Wars Pavilion (daily).
  • Celebrity Autographs: Find your favorite Star Wars cast and crew members signing autographs at the booths for Official Pix, Master Replicas and Anthony Grandio.
  • How To Draw Star Wars characters with cartoonist Randy Martinez: Martinez will take the class through step-by-step instructions that help make even difficult-looking drawings of favorite characters much easier to do. (Sun.,11:30 AM; Room 1 AB)
