Online Chats: Ryan Church, Dan Gregoire (and Pablo Hidalgo)
September 03, 2003

Continuing the series of online chats for Hyperspace members are two of the first members of the Episode III crew. Concept Design Supervisor Ryan Church and Pre-Visualization Supervisor Dan Gregoire will each be special guests this week in separate online chat sessions.

[ Ryan Church ]
Joining the Episode II team late in the process, Ryan Church brought his talents to help develop Attack of the Clones' rich palette of color and mood, particularly as the film's action switches to Geonosis. Church's duties continued directly into work on Episode III as a Concept Design Supervisor, providing leadership to the team that provides initial inspiration for the worlds, characters, vehicles, creatures and situations that will populate this last Star Wars film. Church is scheduled to join Hyperspace members on Friday, September 5, 1:00 pm U.S. Pacific time (4:00 pm U.S. Eastern time).

[ Dan Gregoire ]
Previsualization Effects Supervisor Dan Gregoire is also a veteran of Episode II, leading a crew of computer artists previsualizing Episode III in a video-resolution computer-animated form long before digital cameras rolled in Sydney, Australia. Those animatics are used constantly on-set, defining the action for cast and crew alike for scenes where walls, windows and other dangers must exist only in the actor's imagination. Gregoire's team is now integrating footage from Sydney, providing George Lucas and ILM materials and guidelines to continue the post-production efforts. Join him on Tuesday, September 9, 5:00 p.m. U.S. Pacific time (8:00 pm U.S. Eastern time).

Also, starwars.com's intrepid correspondent Pablo Hidalgo is set to do the third of his weekly chats from the set of Episode III today at 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time ( 7:30 p.m. Eastern time, Thursday, Sep 4, 9:30 a.m. local Sydney time ). If you miss him this week, be sure to check the Online Chat forum next week.

Please note that the demands of film production may result in last-minute schedule changes, and that although hundreds of questions are submitted, not all can be answered. These online chats are held in the Online Chats and Schedule Forum available only to Hyperspace members.
