Yoda's Challenge is a
Star Wars: Episode I CD-ROM designed to immerse children ages 6 and up in math, reading, and music activities. Players begin the game in the Jedi Council Chamber where, with the help of Yoda, they choose among six entertaining activities set on Naboo and Tatooine. Each activity focuses on a different educational content area, while allowing players to enter the exciting world of
Star Wars and interact with Episode I characters and settings.
Utilizing traditional 2D animation with fully-painted backgrounds, each activity has between 20 and 40 preset puzzles organized in four levels designed to gradually increase in difficulty and complexity, introducing new concepts and additional variables along the way.
The activity center features many Episode I characters, including Jar Jar Binks, Queen Amidala, and C-3PO. Once players have mastered all difficulty levels for every activity, they can earn - and print - a certificate of completion signed by Master Yoda himself. Also included in each box is a set of free
Star Wars stickers.
The educational focus of
Yoda's Challenge is designed to expose kids to the fundamental elements of character development, critical thinking skills, word recognition, vocabulary and reading comprehension, early music skills, basic geometric concepts, spatial relationships and visual perception. Children can easily tap the many resources of
Yoda's Challenge to better their skills on their own, without the help of an adult to supervise their progress.
Yoda's Challenge offers a variety of positive feedback for young Jedi. In certain activities, for instance, players can earn original illustrated pictures of Episode I characters and vehicles. In the cantina, they are invited to print out sheet music of original
Star Wars songs, including notes & lyrics. Players can tackle the activities in any order, and can change the color-coded difficulty level at any time to best fit their abilities, so that everybody can have fun and learn at their own pace.
Yoda's Challenge is being released today, on a hybrid PC/Mac CD-ROM, and is available in software stores everywhere.
