The largest convention of its kind, Gen Con celebrates all facets of gaming -- from roleplaying games and cards, to LARPing and miniatures battles, and more. During Aug.19-22 in Indianapolis, Indiana, gamers will attend Gen Con to show off their talents and learn about new products from the leading game developers.

This year Wizards of the Coast will be hosting the Star Wars Trading Card Game Championship 2004 with over $10,000 worth of prizes including Master Replica Force FX Lightsabers, Hasbro Jorg Sacul Celebration II action figures, and a life-size statue of C-3PO. Many of the contestants have previously earned entry into the Nationals through regional events Wizards of the Coast sponsored over the spring and summer. For a list of the top players competing for the title on National Champion, click here.

Wizards of the Coast will also be running its very first Star Wars Miniatures Pre-release Tournament in the Miniatures Hall on Saturday at 1 pm.

Participating in the tournament will be the only way that Gen Con attendees can actually take home Rebel Storm starters and boosters, which are scheduled for release on September 3. For more information on the tournament, click here.

In addition to 72 hours of competitive game play, Wizards of the Coast will also feature a Star Wars Miniatures line Preview (Friday 4-6pm) that will give attendees a sneak preview of the new minis, answer questions, and talk about future plans regarding the miniatures lineup.

Wizards of the Coast will run demos of the Star Wars miniatures in its booth for all four days, including the full set of Rebel Storm on display.

Gen Con attendees can also pick up a free promo miniature of a Wookiee Soldier in the Wizards booth.
