5. Star Forge

Destructive Potential: This immense and ancient space station was powered by the dark side of the Force. Drawing energy and matter from a nearby star, the forge then churned out a seemingly endless supply of droids, weapons and starships, like an evil, unfunny version of that chocolate conveyer belt from "I Love Lucy."

Origins: The Rakatans were big-time movers and shakers long before the Republic ever bound the worlds of the galaxy together. They followed a familiar template of ancient progenitor species with advanced technology that constructed prehistoric marvels that now stand as ruins and curiosities. The Star Forge never got a chance to be a ruin, as its discovery and use by Darth Malak sealed its fate, about four thousand years before the events of the Star Wars movies.

Plausible Non-Draconian Reason To Keep it Around: It's productive, not destructive!

Considerably Less Effective Names: Stellar Sweatshop; Wonder Works; Doom Depot.

Achilles Heel: You need Force-wielders to power it, and they can be very scarce at times.

Further Reading: Play the first Knights of the Republic game, from LucasArts and BioWare, 2003.
