The once seemingly-endless stretch of time before the release of Episode III is dwindling away, and as anticipation for
Revenge of the Sith reaches a fever pitch, Dark Horse Comics has a number of action-packed stories leading into the finale of the
Star Wars saga.
The first title released in March, though, is one set in the classic era, but the shadows of the Clone Wars stretch over generations. In "Sons," part three of a five-issue arc,
Jabiim is the setting as
Luke Skywalker is haunted by the knowledge that his father betrayed the people of this world during the Clone Wars. Meanwhile, Imperial slave ships are en route to take possession of the conquered Jabiim natives, and the only ones that can stop them are
Hobbie Klivian and
Wedge Antilles.
Star Wars: Empire #31 is by Thomas Andrews, Adriana Melo and Michael Atiyeh, with cover art by Tomās Giorello. It is due out on March 2.
The newly revamped Star Wars Tales continues to chronicle compelling stories from all over the Star Wars galaxy and timeline. In issue #23, you'll find the tale of a Jedi named Qel-Droma, and his two companions, who voyage to the Sith world of Korriban. This prequel to the popular Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic game is set thousands of years in the past. Also in this issue is the tragic third chapter of lone Jedi Darca Nyl.
Star Wars Tales #21 features the work of Rob Williams, Joshua Ortega, Brandon Badeaux, Dustin Weaver and others, and will be available with an art cover and a photo cover. The 64-page issue is due out on March 9.
Also in March, readers will get a very close look at
General Grievous, the twisted leader of the Separatist droid army. Padawan Flynn Kybo is mourning the loss of his master who died facing Grievous. He appeals to the Jedi Council with a plan to stop Grievous before the Jedi-killer strikes again. When the Council rejects his plan, Flynn takes matters into his own hand.
Star Wars: General Grievous #1 is the first of a four-part series spotlighting the new villain from Episode III. It is by Chuck Dixon, Rick Leonardi and Mark Pennington. It is scheduled for release on March 16.
The five-part series
Star Wars: Obsession culminates on the bleak cemetery world of Boz Pity. A concerted Jedi strike against the leaders of the
Separatists erupts in a battle with
Count Dooku himself, and
Mace Windu squares off against General Grievous. But none of this matters to
Obi-Wan Kenobi, who is consumed with tracking down
Asajj Ventress. His single-mindedness may lead to his greatest failure, undoing everything that has made him the great Jedi hero that he is.
Star Wars: Obsession #5 is by Haden Blackman and Brian Ching, featuring cover art by Ching and Brad Anderson. It is scheduled for release on March 30.
In
Star Wars: Republic #75, the Siege of Saleucami continues with the second part of a four-issue story. His supply lines cut and his clone army decimated, General
Oppo Rancisis may not have the resources to stop Jedi traitor
Sora Bulq from taking his
Morgukai forces off-world. The key to Oppo's desperate plan lies within the magma tunnels of Saleucami, wherein await Anzati assassins. Meanwhile, Master Tholme finally confronts his former apprentice, leading to a dramatic battle with deadly consequences.
Star Wars: Republic #75 is by Jon Ostrander, Jan Duursema, Dan Parsons and Brad Anderson, and features cover art by Duursema. It is due out on March 30.
