Spring may just be around the corner, but already comic fans are planning for the summer. Here's what Dark Horse Comics has in the works for the summer months.
The odds are against the fledgling Rebel Alliance, but brilliant strategists like General Jan Dodonna were the key to its early survival. Many of the Imperial officers determined to snuff out the Rebellion were schooled by Dodonna himself, giving the Alliance a much-needed edge. Now, Dodonna is masterminding the relocation of the Rebel forces to an obscure jungle moon: Yavin 4. This two-part side-story reveals little-known secrets about the history of the Rebellion; the "Darklighter" arc resumes in issue #12.
"Yavin Base" begins in Star Wars: Empire #10. It is by Paul Chadwick and Tomás Giorello, with cover art by Kilian Plunkett. It is scheduled for release on June 4.
A pivotal battle of the Clone Wars will set the stage for a young Jedi to become a hero, for others to become martyrs, and for a decision that will affect the next generation of Skywalkers. Jabiim is a rain-soaked world filled with Separatist sympathizers, and the Republic forces have been tasked to reclaim it. General Obi-Wan Kenobi and his First Lieutenant Anakin Skywalker lead the clone charge against the Separatists, but the elements themselves turn against the Jedi. "The Battle of Jabiim" is a four-part tale that begins in Star Wars: Republic #55. It is by Haden Blackman and Brian Ching, with cover art by Kev Walker. It is scheduled for release on June 18.
What was Yoda like as a youngling? He wasn't always nine centuries old, and Star Wars Tales takes a look at the Jedi Master's past, with a near-fatal brush with the dark side during his first voyage to the swamp world of Dagobah. This issue of the popular anthology series also includes stories featuring Darth Vader, Han Solo, Jabba the Hutt and many more. The talents of Ashley Wood, Brian Horton, Paul Lee, Jason Hall, Tod Parkhill, Joey Mason, Howard Shum and more are spotlighted. Star Wars Tales #16 is due out on June 23, available in a photo-cover edition, or an edition with cover art by Ashley Wood.
Wrap up revisiting the classic Marvel Star Wars series with the final installment of the trade paperback reprints, Star Wars: A Long Time Ago. Featuring the talents of Al Williamson, Archie Goodwin, Jo Duffy and more, with meticulously restored colors, this 312-page trade paperback is scheduled for a July 16 release.
The first trade paperback collection of Star Wars: Empire is also due out this summer.
