In celebration of the release of the
Star Wars Trilogy on DVD,
Chewbacca has hit the road to meet fans around the world with the "Where's the
Wookiee?" tour.
The beloved Walking Carpet was last in London, England, riding with commuters and tourists on the tube. He had some mishaps by missing his first train and then getting caught with his feet on the seats. But he was fascinated by the London Underground, even if the map proved confusing to a Wookiee from Kashyyyk. On board the Tube, he even picked up a copy of Metro, just as Londoners do to while away their trips, where he read about the success of the Star Wars Trilogy DVD.
Once out of the tube, Chewie spent time looking around the historic Westminster Abbey before walking toward the Thames and the Houses of Parliament with its instantly recognizable Big Ben clock tower. Hoards of fans began to follow him, asking for his photo, for which he gladly posed. Ultimately, though, the ruckus caught the attention of the police, who threatened to write Chewie a ticket ... unless he paid a visit to them at New Scotland Yard, where he met an authentic English bobby.
That kind of chaos was a bit much for our Wookiee, and he had to duck into a pub to relax. There, he met up with two friends, who seemed as strange to him as the aliens in the Mos Eisley cantina.
After taking a short break, Chewie paused to buy some postcards for his friends back home, then hopped in one of London's famous black cabs, where he pulled a copy of the Beatles' "Abbey Road" out from his satchel and begged the driver to take him to the spot made famous on the album's cover.
While in London, the producers of the BBC children's program "XChange" invited Chewie along with Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) to make an appearance on the show, where hosts Gemma and Jean asked them questions from their younger fans.
London's a big city, and Chewie's a large Wookiee, so he finally had to go back to his room in the ultra-trendy St. Martin's Lane Hotel to rest up, where he plotted out his next stop on the European leg of his tour.
Chewie began his world tour in Tokyo, Japan, but has also been seen in
Sydney, Australia and Berlin, Germany.
Chewie will continue his travels across the globe to celebrate release of the Star Wars Trilogy DVD box set. So keep your eyes peeled, and if you see the Walking Carpet in person, say hello. The first few fans who offer a friendly handshake may be rewarded with a Star Wars Trilogy DVD box set!

Chewie's thinking some tapas would be mighty tasty, and since Britain's weather is changing to fall, some southern European sun might be nice about now ... so he's brushing up on his Spanish.
