This week,
George Lucas will be travelling to France to greet members of the media and the fans who are eagerly awaiting the France premiere of
The Phantom Menace, which will take place on October 13, 1999. The director will be giving a series of interviews to the French press and broadcast media. One of the highlights of the week will be a question & answer session held by Fnac, a chain of music, movie and book megastores. Their flagship store La Fnac Etoile, in Paris, will be beautifully adorned with a proper Star Wars look, and will welcome 130 invited guests for the occasion, including fans and Fnac subscribers. However the rest of the French fan population will be able to join in on the fun, as the event will be retransmitted live to the 57 Fnac stores throughout France, with each store able to accommodate about 150 guests of its own. And to bring even more Star Wars enthusiasts closer to the action, the
Fnac web site will offer live streaming video of the event to their virtual visitors (pre-registration is recommended to ensure quality in the transmission). The Fnac gathering, hosted by the popular French comedian and actor Alain Chabat, takes place on September 22, 1999, at 5:30 p.m., France time.
