From the Movies
Ark "Bumpy" Roose piloted an awkward giant of a Podracer that appeared, upon first glance, as an unsettling mishmash of turbine engines, cooling vents and garish colors. Despite its looks, the Podracer delivered the speeds necessary for Roose to be a contender in the Boonta Eve Podrace. During the second lap of the race, Roose needed to make a pit stop for maintenance from a frantic team of pit droids. From the Expanded Universe
Ark "Bumpy" Roose's Podracer was a clunker in almost every regard. Its oversized cluster of engines provided the vessel with poor handling and turn response. The twin-turbined Vokoff-Strood Plug-8G 927 Cluster Array engines did provide respectable acceleration, which Bumpy prized since he loathed to let anyone pass him. The large open-air channel in the center of the engine cluster provided excellent cooling for a racer this size.Bumpy collided with Dud Bolt in the third lap of the Boonta Eve Podrace, taking both pilots out of the race.
Behind the Scenes
During production, Ark "Bumpy" Roose's Podracer was identified as Podracer "L" due to its placement in the starting grid. In new footage exclusive to the DVD release of Episode I, Ark brings his Podracer in for a pit stop in the second lap. Keywords: Databank - Episode I
