Twenty-five years ago, the Expanded Universe of Star Wars publishing was in its infancy. The novelization of the original film was a bestseller for Del Rey Books, but a sequel to A New Hope was still years away. To fill the time between adventures, fans turned to books, and Alan Dean Foster's Splinter of the Mind's Eye told an original tale of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa. Years later, Dark Horse Comics adapted the novel into a comic series by Terry Austin and Chris Sprouse. Here are some of the key elements from that story.
