Bollux![]()
![]() From the Expanded UniverseAs a young smuggler, Han Solo tried to do away with any excess baggage in his frequent journeys. He often thought of droids as unneeded annoyances and preferred to do things himself. Helping to change his mind were a pair of unlikely mechanicals that proved to be of great value.Bollux has come a long way since he was first activated over a century ago as a standard labor droid at the Fondor shipyards. To stave off obsolescence, Bollux has undergone a myriad of modifications, and has avoided regular memory wipes. This has allowed him to accrue a large number of skills, as well as a vivid, if slow-paced, personality. Doc and Jessa's outlaw techs made the most notable modifications to the old BLX-5 droid. Bollux's chest cavity was hollowed out to make room for Blue Max, an illegal and intelligent computer probe that came to be Bollux's counterpart and friend. Han Solo employed Bollux and Blue Max in an investigation to locate missing people in the Corporate Sector. Blue Max's computer slicing abilities proved valuable in scouring the CSA data networks for clues, and Bollux proved remarkably resourceful in protecting Blue Max and delivering the probe to where he needed to be. These capers involved the destruction of the Star's End prison facility, the uncovering of an illegal slaving ring among the ranks of CSA executives, and the discovery of the millennia-old treasure hoard of Xim the Despot. Bollux is a rare example of a "free" droid, not indentured to any master. He and Blue Max eventually left behind their adventures with Han Solo. Whatever fate had in store for the two droids has yet to be documented. Keywords: Databank - Expanded Universe Filed under: Vault, Droid
