Anyone lucky enough to be on the holiday mailing list of a Lucasfilm division employee this year may soon find a cool new Star Wars-themed card arriving in their mailbox. An annual tradition since the '70s, Lucasfilm has created a different holiday card each year for corporate friends and colleagues, with Star Wars a popular theme throughout the years.

This year, recipients will open their card to three lines of caroling stormtroopers, courtesy of ILM Production Assistant for the Art Department Lorraine LeBer.

"The inspiration for the card was a winter wonderland theme," says LeBer, "in conjunction with the celebration of Star Wars' 30th anniversary." 30 die-cut stormtroopers holding candles and songbooks are presented in three rows, which pop-up when the card is opened.

"I thought of winter activities that different Star Wars characters might take part in," continues LeBer. "I also re-watched Star Wars to come up with ideas -- when I saw the stormtroopers lined up, it clicked. They looked like they were lined up and ready to go caroling around the galaxy. I wanted to make the card a pop-up partly because I wanted to add interest and excitement, and partly because I'm a fan of pop-up art."
